Trying an experiment again. Today I went up to Bigelow Hollow in Union, CT. Got a shot of a plant I have not seen before. It is called common bladderwort, and grows in marshes.
Had a great day of shooting

I need to figure out how to post thumbs so they won't be so big. Well, this is a learning site. I won't do this again until I get it down pat.

The only way to post the thumbnails you see in threads is to have shots in your portfolio to link to. Of course, portfolios are only available to paid members.
Your other options are to just link the photo, using the second-from-right link, or to make a small copy to post. In the latter case, though, we wouldn't be able to see the larger image.

Btw, I love the spiderwebs :)

Next weeks trek, for anyone who may be local and would like to join me, will be on Wednesday, Aug. 16. It will be to Vernon CT. I will be visiting the headwaters of the Tankerhoosen River, to photograph wild brown trout. It is one of the few places in the state where wild brown trout can breed. Most other places are stocked with brown trout. Here it is a natural habitat, currently threatened by Home Depot who wishes to come in and build a huge retail store.
I am planning to head out around 8 a.m. weather permitting.

By next week, I will probably be reactivating my membership. Need a payday in between before paying the 25. Then I will be posting once again to my portfolio, which I let go on Jul. 16.

Utricularia vulgaris, the scientific name of common bladderwort, is a carniverous plant, you may already know. By means of little bladders it captures plankton to supplement its nitrate needs. My other great all-consuming hobby is aquatic gardening. To learn more about it, see some of the gardens created by Takashi Amano San.
