I didn't want to derail the "Pick Your Favorite Photo" thread by making this comment inline, but I have been thinking lately how extraordinary that thread is. It's been running continuously since the end of February, it has 15.639 posts to it, and nearly all of them include a thumbnail to an image someone likes from the DPC archives. That's at least 15,000 images posted up for public viewing in less than 6 months...
Wow! Check it out and join the fun; a core group of people is keeping it alive with repeated forays into the waters. I've done this myself, it's great; you find yourself looking at portfolios you otherwise might never have viewed, and there's some great stuff in there!

I will throw in there another benefit for me. THere are a bunch of people that rather than just pick a picture from the previous persons top rated entries they delve into the portfolio. I have been pleasantly surprised at some of the pics people pull out of my portfolio and it is almost like seeing a long lost friend. I mean - how often do you go through your own portfolio to look at pics that you added months (or years for some of you) ago. Not only do I get to find gems in other peoples portfolios but I get reminded of some of my own. Its a great thread. |

I always go on that thread with the intention of joining in the fun, until I realize I have only 2 challenge entries so far, so the people will end up re-posting my 2 entries over and over and over again.
It's a good thread, though!

yeah... i've jumped in there a few times lately and have been quite surprised at some of the photos people have dug up from my portfolio...
it's also given me an excuse to go dive into the portofolios of people i've not seen much off before...
quite inspiring...
ETA: btw... when you take your time looking for a photo in someone's portfolio, someone will probably beat you to the punch... so make sure you're not skipping someone when you post your favorite... it seems to happen to me quite a bit... ;)

You can "stake a claim" by grabbing the first image you see and posting it, then browse the portfolio and replace it immediately with the one you really want.
