Spontaneous Portraits-Def. coming from Deviantart...but this would be really fun and could turn out some great shots! I have not ever proposed an idea here in the forums so if I am doing anything wrong let me know!
A spontaneous portrait differs from a snapshot in that it is not without artistic merit. Generally, the photographer will loosely prepare a shooting area for a subject or subjects and will allow the subject(s) to interact with the environment while hunting for the right moment to take the photo. This differs from classical portraits in that they are not meticulously posed - it is a photo derived from the cooperation between photographer and model.

I took this a couple of years ago with my little fuji point and shoot - i'm still very fond of it (and of Connor as well) [thumb]//s104.photobucket.com/albums/m193/henryporter/family/?action=view¤t=32f88f75.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1[/thumb] |

edit: In retrospect I don't think this is what you are after, being more candid and not a portrait at all. Sorry :P I'll read more carefully next time!

Now that I'm looking at them, I'd say about 80% of the photos in my B&W People folder are spontaneous portraits. Hmmmmm.... I could go for this challenge. :)
Here are a few.

Nova: I think that would work just fine for the challenge. It is a very cute piture and it does not necc. look specifically JUST candid. To me this looks like it could fit the challenge well. It is a great shot by the way :) |
