I sure hope someone here can help with this.
The ODBC data source reported the following error:
"[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."
This happens when I try to download photos, from camera or folder. I can edit the ones I have in the program now I just can't get any new ones to upload.
The only thing I have done recently, that I have never done before is that I moved half my files to disk to open up some hard drive space. (The move left the thumbnails in the catalog and will refer me to a disk if I need that particular photo). This was done at about the same thime this problem started but I can not swear it was the cause of the problem.
I am not the most knowledgable when it comes to computers so I checked with Adobe and Microsoft and I can't find the answer on their sites. Some of their responses are close but they don't work. This happened last week and I have removed and deleted PSE4, MS service pack 2 (which was a nightmare), and checked the registry as best I could. I also removed and reloaded all Adobe products just in case.
I am really confused at this point and have a wedding I need to upload and go over and I'm about to go into panic mode.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance |

Sorry,
I should have also added that I am not on a network and only have one computer in the house. I have all of the latest and greatest virus, adware and spyware protections and did disconnect for the cable modem just to make sure I wasn't being hacked.
Thanks again |

The first thing that I would do is put service pack 2 back on, and go to windows update and download any subsequent security patches, so that you're at least up to date in that respect.
Then I would use the updates menu in elements to check if you have an old version, and update if needed.
That's a very odd error message for this sort of operation. What happens if you download your images outside of Elements? |

I have already reloaded SP2 and all of the updates. PSE4 is also completely updated.
As for downloading the photos with another program, I used Picasa 2 and everthing downloaded in the normal fashion. I then tried to get the photos into PSE4 from the folder Picasa put them in and I get the same message.
This is really frustrating. |

That is odd. Maybe if you describe exactly what you have running (presumably just elements 4?) and what process you are going through (where the pictures are being moved from and to etc) I could try to recreate it to see if I get the same error.

I only have PSE4 running.
I always plugged the firewire into my Canon 30D and then used the PSE4 download button. I always did this with no problem. Since this problem started, I downloaded the photos from the camera to the computer using Picasa 2. I then used PSE4 and went into the folder that contains the wedding photos and tried to bring them into PSE4 that way. I still got the same error message.

I'm unsure what you mean by "bring them into PSE4"?

I go to the Files: Get Photos: From Files/Folders then go to the folder with the photo I want to bring into PSE4. When I click on the folder and highlight all of the photos in the folder, I then click on"get photos". The progream pauses for about 10 to 12 seconds then the error message comes up.

Nope, I can't get that error from photo organizer even if I have the pictures open in another program whilst I attempt to collect them.
As far as I can tell so far, the error message can indicate corruption in microsoft access databases that contain large binary objects. My guess would be is that this is the underlying mechanism that the elements organizer uses.
Still digging for info. |

Okay, I think you are onto something. I did the above and now the error message has changed to;
The ODBC data source reported the following error:
(internal error:data not found)
Thanks for working on this, I'm gonna try to recover again. |

Mist,
Thankyou, Thankyo, Thank you................
After a second run of the recover command, PSE4 is back up and running. I just got the wedding loaded.
I truly appreciate the help as I don't think I would have thought of that after doing everything else I did.
I am grateful.
Thanks again for taking the time to help
