On my way to work I pass a beautiful small farm with some pasture and rolling hills that has been gorgeous the past few days with early morning fog and sunrise. Unfortunately, there isn't any place (very narrow road) to pull over to get a shot. The farmer's driveway has extra room at the end to pull in but I wouldn't do that without permission, at least not to park, get out, and set up tripod, etc...

This has me thinking about stopping in on my way home from work and introducing myself, etc... Since I don't have a photography business and don't belong to any photography organizations/clubs outside of DPC I thought it would be handy to have some sort of "club" ID card. Something like the layout below. Maybe have it available on our preferences page where we could print it out? It could be auto-populated with data already in the system.

Any thoughts on this?

I'm at work and don't have a profile pic up so I grabbed the first one I ran into in another forum (ButterflySis)...hope it's ok for now? ;^)

This is a good idea. It's easy enough to make business cards - I have printed my own - but I think that sometimes, having an association with an actual organization that's well known (as opposed to a business in your own name) would make people feel more comfortable with shooting requests.

If it were made available to members, with some fields for info we could choose to enter/exclude, we could print them like glad2badad suggested. Maybe format them so they print to business card stock paper (or keep it easy for the Admins and just make them downloadable to PS?). Our membership dates could be put on them, so they'd "expire", if there were concerns over non-renewing members.

I can just see some of those cards now... with little south park characters, or dog faces as the pictures! :P

Not saying it's not a good idea... it might be helpful for some people to have access to something like this.

;^) Different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm sure there would be humorous uses as well as legitimate ones.

this would be nice if you could put the website address on it for you portfolio. Unfortunately, you can't reference the user in a clean way (that I can see). When I say clean I'm suggesting something like:

www.dpchallenge.com/dleach

Instead we have:

www.dpchallenge.com/profile.php?USER_ID=48245

odysseyf22.dpchallenge.com will take you right to me. From my profile, you can get to my portfolio. Or maybe there's a way to add "portfolio" to the end of the to-profile address.
