How did our ancestors manage without A/C???? I spent four days in Lake Huron, because it was too darn hot to come out. Sleeping in a tent with no A/C like a family of barbarians, sheesh! ;-)

Never ever been to an inland ocean (like NA's Great Lakes are). But count yourself lucky you're not in NYC. It's darned hot here....

We're camping this weekend and supposedly this ungodly heat is to break a bit. I hope so!

I often wondered why so many inventions and advances and art and such came form the colder climates - i figured with the cold man would be busy trying to survive and would have little time left for those higher pursuits - until we got this last heatwave and then I realized that in this heat, or tropical heat, one has no interest in doing anything beyond the basics let alone expending the effort to invent the car or something.

BTW, global warming has nothing to so with CO2. It is from paving over nature and burning fuels - you drive you car, it gets hot (side effect of burned fuel) and that heat stays on the planet and heats it up.

It was on the news that the city will be up to 10 degree warmer than the suburbs - why? More concrete, more cars/trucks/busses.

And you don't need a doctorate in planetary science to prove or experience this.

We're camping this weekend too, and thankfully it looks like more normal temperatures!

When I saw this thread and realized it was posted up by slippy, my first thought was "Heck, I thought it had melted years ago..." :-) I'm sitting here on normally-bearable Cape Cod and the temperature at my computer is well over 90 degrees... I'm headed for the shady side of the house now...

Nice to hear the heat is spreading itself around for everyone's enjoyment. :-P

I work in a cool, air conditioned office.

-The cool air makes me hungry at lunch time, I walk outside to get something to eat,
-the heat makes me lose my appetite,
-I walk back into the cool building & get hungry again,
-walk back outside & am not humgry.

I went back & forth a few times before I got a headache, bit the bullet & walked down to Burrito Boyz.
