Google Maps is the bomb! If it doesn't take you right to the spot try refreshing it. If it's still not the right spot zoom in a couple clicks and follow Mountain View Rd north. Just south of hwy 88 you'll see Jacob Waltz St.
This is the road and area his car was spoted on, Jacob Waltz St. Not sure exactly where, but we know it was east of mountain view. My best guess is it was in the clearing just west of the houses on the north side of the road opposite Nodak (the road heading north). Can't really tell from this view, but that is a nice clear flat area and one of the few places you can pull off the road and get out of the way.

The problem with bumping it so often is that it makes people believe there might be some actual news. Its driving many users nuts.

The original idea of bumping was to keep on the front page in case Steve happened to drop in...we wanted him to see his name immediately. That won't happen if it's off the front page. |

I have been thinking about this A LOT for the last few days. What IM service does he use? It occurs to me that perhaps he was going to meet a "stranger" somewhere. If you can log into his IM... that assumes you would know his password, but perhaps you could see his message logs and find out if he told ANYONE about his plans.
just a thought.

PS. I am in Oklahoma and planning a road trip to TX tomorrow, would I/could I be of any help in AZ instead? I don't know if an extra body is needed at all, but I would gladly change my plans if it could help someone especially Steve.

Police, family serach for missing photographer
05:35 PM Mountain Standard Time on Tuesday, August 1, 2006
By Tess Rafols / 3TV
Family members are worried sick right now after a Mesa photographer went missing in the Superstition Mountains a week ago.
Family and friends have been passing out flyers. Steve Davidsonâs family believes he went out to the Superstition Mountains to take photographs, but no one's seen him or heard from him since July 23rd.
Taking pictures of the desert is Davidson's passion.
âItâs not uncommon for him to go on day trips, but for him to be gone so long, itâs abnormal,â Davidsonâs son Orion said.
âI'm very worried, I'm very scared,â Iva Grenya said about her brother.
Davidson's sister and son drove for 19 hours straight from Oregon, because no one has seen or heard from him in a week and a half.
His car, a 1998 silver Honda Accord, was spotted in the Superstition Mountains.
The pair posted flyers, searched trails and drove around Tuesday morning hoping to see him, but they found nothing.
The family is especially worried because Davidson has heart problems and there's also the desert heat.
Not wanting to imagine the worse they hang on to hope and hold on to the beautiful images he has captured so well.
âI'd just like to see him again, I don't care how long it takes,â Orion said. âIf I have to drive miles and miles to find him, I will do that.â

Hmmmmm, this made me think. Does anyone on here have Google Earth? From what I understand, you can see any car/road/etc in real time. |

Good. I had to register to read the story. Maybe the link I supplied helped to bypass that.
Yes, another great story. I must say they give me goosebumps. It really makes it real seeing them...
MrEd Google Earth is not real-time.

I believe that function only works on the expensive version like they use on CNN and Fox News, The Free version that is available does not have as much detail etc.

I did a little reading and searching. Real time satellite images aren't available to the general public yet. |

First off, if this thread is made a "sticky", we won't need to bump it as it will naturally sit at the top of the "general dicussion" folder.
I have also updated the myspace to include the channel 3 news broadcast, which was done very well.
No new news on this end. Keep up the wonderful efforts and I know I won't stop until we find him!

It is sticky in the general discussion forum, but steps are still being made to be able to sticky it on the front page. |

Just posting again to offer some kharma (no, not the dog) Steve's way.
How about at 1:00 am EST everyone thinks "Steve come home". Maybe he'll hear us?
Ok, I don't really believe in such things, but it couldn't hurt! |

You are correct, sorry. I wasn't aware of the front page "recent activity", a sticky won't help there. Unless an admin has the rights to sticky in that folder, which I doubt. |

It can't hurt - it's just like a collective prayer or wish. |
