OK - because I messed up the dates in the first thread, we seem to have lost momentum.
Time to try again.
When?
Looks like we're going with the 24 May
What do we want to do?
ΓΆ€ΒΆ Meet for a meal/ drinks over lunch or dinner (I can help choose/ book)
ΓΆ€ΒΆ Have a photo shoot afternoon- if we choose this option we can put forward suggestions for location later
ΓΆ€ΒΆ Go on for drinks and/ or another meal after the photoshoot
Accommodation:
Floyd's claimed my spare bedroom already, do other visitors need help with looking into accommodation in London? If so, let me know and I can help research.
THANKS

May 24th, May 25th or June 15th are good for me.
Lunch and then photoshoot followed by drinks.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together Kavey!

My diary looks free for all the dates you suggest.
If Im gonna drive all that way down I'd like to think we were at least going to spend an afternoon doing something. I'm quite keen on that ferris wheel thing :)

Kavey,
Am currently free on the following dates:
ΓΆ€ΒΆ 24 May
ΓΆ€ΒΆ 25 May
ΓΆ€ΒΆ 31 May
ΓΆ€ΒΆ 1 June
ΓΆ€ΒΆ 15th June
Would like to suggest a shoot from within an eye gondala as will get superb shots of London if day is good, and would be nicer to do something with the day. Prehaps you could organise with the site owners if they could even set up a submission if there are enough takers.
Thanks |

Jaam you mean a mini challenge for GTG attendees? I will ask Drew and Langdon though it would probably be a lot of work just for a handful of us.
John, I'm happy to have a 4th ride on the Eye, for those who don't like the sound of that, it's pretty photogenic from the ground too.
How does this plan sound?
meet for lunch, ride the Eye and shoot that area in the afternoon, drinks after shoot and anyone who wants to can do dinner too
Waaaiiiil! The more I think bout this the more I worry about the fact I'm gonna have to share the use of our camera with Pete!
OK - waiting to hear from Kiwiness, Galina, Natasha, Ed (e301), Marksimms, Manic, Bod and any other London or UK based DCPers.

Depending on how many of us attend, there is the possibility (and I do mean possibility, nothing guaranteed here) of a speed challenge for attendees.
I will discuss it further with Drew when we have our date and "guest list" (he he) finalised.

I'm still firmly on the maybe list. It's a long way to travel so I'd have to make a long weekend out of it to make the trip worthwhile, but I am tempted : ) |

Kavey unfortunately I can't make any of those dates! The only time would have been the 21/22 June but you can't then. I'll have to save it for the next meeting then :-( |

I would prefer a saturday - any of the saturdays listed will do. Photoshoot sounds nice, plus lunch/drinks. Hey, it's not that we are meeting everyday - let's make the most of it!

Aaw Kiwi I'm so sorry. I'll be in France that weekend - I thought about posting some dates on my return but that's then well into July.
I'm sure we'll have future GTGs though...

I propose MAY 24th as the date.
Bod, as John will be coming down I'm sure there will be beering and eating out during the weekend... You'd be welcome to join us where it extends before or after the DPC meet.[

May 24 sounds good to me. In fact, atm, any of them except June 15 (when I'm in NYC - boy the camera's going to take a beating). Proviso: work comes in very last minute, so I may have to cry off at the last moment.

Like I said before, I'll probably be able to tag along... However, odds are I'm gonna be seriously busy the week beforehand though, so I can't guarantee anything yet...

Got your email, Kavita. May 24 is OK with me.
Oh, one thing. My husband and I went to London yesterday to see Dali and Marylin Monroe exhibitions, and the crowds for London Eye were horrendous. I know it's Easter vacations now, but I guess it may be the same story on saturdays.

I can book tickets in advance for anyone who wants me to as long as they promise to pay me even if they don't show up!

Can I make the suggestion that if we're shooting we aim to be around from about 6:00 pm onwards - apart from being the standard 'best time of day', there's so many angular buildings aroud that really don't show up well before that (velieve me, I've tried!). Also, if we're lucky and get good sunset weather, the sun sets behind the houses of parliament at that time of year.
I regularly work at the Festival Hall, so know the area pretty well if any suggestions are needed.
Bizarre thought: how about a through-the-night shoot, finishing with the sun rising behind Tower Bridge? Now that's something for the committed ... :-)
