As far as highlights, shadows, exposure, etc...

as far as highlights and shadows yes but I suspect it would look better with more DOF

Think it would look better without the black reflection on the front of the mouse maybe.

Tiny bit more DOF at the top of the mouse and bottom of the usb plug. Maybe lose some of that reflection on the mouse but overall simple and clean, so it makes for a good image.

Okay, there are as many ways to shoot this as there are photographers. So ... with a grain of salt, how about this idea:

Turn the mouse about 30 degrees to the left, and then shoot from a slightly higher angle. I like the DOF as is, or maybe just a touch more, but not a lot.

hrmm...was just curious as to whether or not the whites looked white, you could see slight shadows and the darks were visible, but not covered in shadow. I'm trying to get an idea for this new computer. Thanks for the advice though.

The lighting and editing makes it look more zen then some of the entries.

I agree - the reflection on the front of the mouse is a litte distracting.
