I have a cold. If I didn't I would have traveled a lot farther then I did today, but to get my series of Green Back Heron shots I put in my portfolio today (and a few ducks and dragonflies) I stayed pretty close to home. This isn't the same heron I saw the other day though. This one is smaller and let me get really close without budging. He was picking off dragonflies and minnows left and right! So cute he was. Tiny compared to the other one. Maybe only about 9" in length. The other one was about 14" in length.
I took over 200 shots and then realized I was walking around and around after this guy in about 97 degree heat. With my cold, I thought it would be the best thing to do and head home. I didn't want to leave though. I could have stayed there all day shooting him. He was so wonderful.
Here is one where he caught a minnow. I have so many yet to edit, I just didn't have the energy. Maybe I will get to them this week. No green heron's will be in my Action entry though. I have another one very different for that. :--)
Edited to fix a double sentence. See? I said I had a cold. :D

Thank you very much! I thought that this message was just going to fall off into never land. :D It was very nice to read what you said. I am thrilled you like it!
Edited to say that I love your bug shots. They are very very nice. I also like your "garden" photo with the white flowers. I like the tones you used in that one. Tomorrow when I am feeling better I will look at your portfolio deeper and leave some comments. I have a cold, and I really should be going to bed early, but tomorrow I will make some time to look at portfolios and make some comments.
