I was thinking about buying 70-200 VR because I had gotten 3 ribbons or honorable mentions. Then I came up with this idea a moment ago; to sell my D50, 18-70 lens and 2 memory cards and buy D200, 18-200 and 2 memory cards. It would be cheaper for me than just buying 70-200. I don't really care that much about sharpness and I'm afraid I'll if begin if I buy 70-200. Then my lens lust wouldn't stop and I would be bankrupt after few months. I could also buy another vivitar flash, 2 slaves, reflector, umbrellas and a mini softbox to make a cheap 2 light studio and still have more money than I would if I would buy 70-200. What do you think? Should I go for it or stay with my original idea?

What about keeping the D50 and only selling the 18-70 to get the 18-200? The D50 is quite a good camera, so unless you really want the D200 why sell the D50? (You would do justice to the D200, I'm sure, just curious why you would want to get the D200 if money is an issue.)

I think the 18-200 is a better lens than the 18-70, and you'll have the additional focal range. What you'll miss with the 18-200 is the ability to get out-of-focus backgrounds by using a large aperture. The 18-200 has a maximum aperture of 5.6 at the tele-end, while the 70-200 has a maximum of 2.8.

I'm still hesitating myself whether to go with the 18-200 and get rid of my kitlens, or get the 80-200 with it's nice f/2.8 (but of course it doesn't have VR, and it's not white...). I can't justify spending more than 1000 euro's on a lens, so the 70-200VR is out of the question for me.

Don't forget the new Nikon D80 that is coming out. It uses SD cards so you could keep those. Keep the 18-70 and get/save for the 70-200 2.8 VR which is the lens to have.

Just a thought ...

Great work by the way!

:-)
