Found a mistake in a major comany's advertising? Post it here.

Nikon - More Power
More Control
More Versatile
More Excitement
The first two and the last one are all nouns, and versatile is an
adjective...would seem to make sense if they all followed the same
pattern, so it should be "More Versatility."

Apple - "Apple. Think Different." ...needs to be an adjective. A person
cannot think different. A person can surely think different ideas,
but then they would be thinking "differently." Needs to be an
adjective.

I just find it interesting that they have paid editors that miss this stuff, and I'm just a highschool graduate. Have any of you found grammar mistakes in advertising? Another big one is on lots of food items labeled "Eat healthy." Eat healthy what? Again, the adjective. Should be "Eat healthily."

Yeah... I always thought, well, hmm, they are such big corporations, they probably pay to research all the stuff they do...

but after taking a few business classes and a marketing class in particular, I've found that really big corporations mess up ALL the time, not just on grammar

The best is when they spend millions of dollars for market research and then ignore it and go with what the CEO wanted to do in the first place because his wife/kids/cousin, whoever, liked it so it must be a money maker

The Future's Bright. The Future's Orange.

I notice these kinds of things constantly.

Actually, I once wrote a letter to a few advertising agencies telling them they should employ me to tell them about all the mistakes they make.

Heh, they wrote me back saying, "Thank you for your interest in employment, unfortunately we are not hiring at the moment, but we will keep your resume on file." but I didn't send a resume! Let's hear it for canned responses!

Also Lance Armstrong's bracelets "live strong." That doesn't work either with proper English.

Why do you believe these are "mistakes"?

"You've got a friend in Pennsylvania" used to be on the license plates there. Don't know if it still is or not.

on hp's website...at this page here:

//www.homeandoffice.hp.com/hho/cache/7541-0-0-225-121.html

Under SECURITY, the last paragraph says "And keep your eyes your notebook at all times to make sure no one else walks away with it."

It should say "...keep your eyes ON your notebook..."

I contacted them about it ... apparently they don't care about their sentence-writing skills.

The "More Versatile" one on the Nikon banner bugs me everytime I see it.

Not to mention you can't start a sentence with "and."

A sentence that starts with 'and' is a sentence fracture, and not a complete sentence.

so There! *sticks out tongue and does the spitty thing*
