:) My first "official" high school senior session. I have shot lots of my daughters' friends, but this is the first one in official capacity. Love the results on these ones, but several others had issues, mostly unnatural posing and stiff expression. Would love your thoughts:

We shot in the studio for 2/3 of the time and outside in my back garden the last 1/3. All with basic studion lighting plus reflectors inside and single reflector outside. Luckily, she is Savanah's friend, so Savanah not only kept her smiling and comfortable, but also helped by holding the reflector (the car windshield one) oppisite the sunlight in each shot.

Awesome work as always Cindi. They all look great. I'm not fond of the B&W image though. It just doesn't suit her to me.

She's a teenaged girl... seems pretty evident to me :-)

:) Yeah, the cellphone was used 'cause its all kids do these days. Her best friend is my 17 year old daughter and belive me, phones are all they do when they're not being beautiful! lol

Rikki - 100% shot with 50mm 1.4. Never changed lenses, didn't need to. :)

I read that as "Cellophane", I swear to god I was looking for saran wrap, then I got a clue, lol - :)

Me Too! I wonder why. I was like "huh? cellophane?" maybe it's the absense of "a" in front of it makes your mind thinks it's something different.

BTW very nice photos Cindi. I definately need to get more involved in your portrait learning thread. :)

edited for spelling

Cindi, I mentioned in some of the comments about some shine on the skin. It makes her skin look a wee bit oily. It's an easy fix in PS though with clone/heal.

Those are some very beautiful pictures.
When i got my senior pictures taken this past May, they were horrible and I hated them. Good thing I didn't have to pay for them cause I would've been rather pissed off.
But anyway, yes. Those are beautiful. Very natural.
but as fotomann_forever pointed out, I'm not crazy about the B&W one, either.

Just noticed your comments, thanks, I'll give 'em a once over before I post the gallery for them to see. Thanks, Leroy!

Just left a few comments. Nice work! I had to look closely to find anything to criticise. :o)

Thanks tons, Don. I'm still editing my final group for posting to an online gallery for them, thanks for your input!

PS I didn't get a stock release from them, but bet i could if I asked. The mom, who was by my side through the entire session, loved me by the time it was finished. I think she was afraid of her little girl looking too sexy or something, I was not about to let that happen. Notice she's wearing NO make-up! This one is an all-natural and that's just the way I wanted to keep her. :)

Edit: She's 17.

You failed... :-P j/k

Actually, I like the natural look you've gotten here.

My favorites are 1, 2 and 5.

As for sexy... you might be on the verge of "sexy" with those last two shots. Still, pretty mild. She's a naturally pretty girl.

Thanks, David. Those are my favorites too, especially #2. I just heard from Ashley's mother and she is OVER THE MOON! I'm so glad! :D

Great pictures, I can see why the mom was happy with them :) I especially like 1 and 5.

I've actually been looking for someone to do some senior portraits for myself (other than the company the school hires for yearbook pictures and whatnot, who took my senior yearbook pictures (the drape and the fluffy wrap stuff) a couple weeks ago). I just didn't have a fantastic time with them.

So for the casual stuff, I want to find someone local to do them, instead of the same place, see if it's any different. I've gone to the same company for all my school pictures since kindergarden, so it'll be nice to try and find someone who doesn't just do the cheesey planned poses that everyone does. I just haven't had any luck finding anyone yet XD

Central. East (and a little south) of Orlando, near the beaches and all that good stuff.

That puts you about 2 1/2 hours from me. I would be happy to schedule a session with you if you feel like driving....but easier I'm sure would be to check the phonebook and internet for photographers closer to you. Orlando is just full of them. :)

Yea 2 hours drive is a bit much for me. I've just started driving at the beginning of the summer and I know my parents wouldn't be up to driving 2 hours for pictures. Thanks for the offer though :)

There was someone I had found a couple months ago, really liked his stuff for senior portraits, and he lived quite close, and when I went to check out his site to see how to contact him a couple weeks ago. I found out he had moved to Canada. haha. So yea I'll have to keep searching.

Jeni, I had the same problem with the company my school hired.. the poses made me look so fake. I hated them. I live in Central Florida too, but I'm not really interested in getting pictures taken =P

ain't that the truth (about looking fake). I dunno, it all just seems corny, the poses and whatnot. I just want something normal lol

haha I'm not either, I like being more behind the camera than anything else. but my parents want some shots (because my brother did the casual stuff as well). It's either that, or my mom wants me to get glamour shots (my aunt's done them lots of times). Glamour shots are not my thing. So casual seinor portraits it is. ^_^
