Hey there- I'm trying to create an action where it will stop with the sharpen dialogue open to a set amount of sharpen and leave it open so I can adjust.
does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

Have your actions pallete open.

Start your recording, then when you get to the step where you'd like to open the Sharpen dialog, do not select it. Instead:

go to the action pallete, top right there is a small triangle icon, known as a fly out menu. Click that, and in that menu select

Insert Menu Item

When you do a long dialog box opens..

Now go to Filter, Sharpen, Unsharp Mask

The dialog box should say "Unsharp Mask"

Hit OK.

Continue as normal with the rest of your action.

Now test it by playing it. You'll see that it opens the USM dialog box, and when you finish with your settings and hit ok, it will continue with the rest of your action

Enjoy,

Thanks so much!!!! :0)
It's not letting me put in the sharpen values but this is way better than how I had it before (...which was not working at all!)

If you record it as normal, then when you've finished the action scroll down the actions window till you get to the USM bit. On the left there should be 2 boxes.

The left box is whether the USM is running. Make sure that is ticked.

The right box is whether the action should stop and wait for your custom settings. That will be un-checked by default.

Click in the box and voila! :)

Funny, mine was checked by default or something, cause I tested it and it worked as needed.

Hmmm. Glad it worked in the end
