What costs way too much money, takes up half of your yard, raises your insurance rates, and keeps sucking money out of your pocket year, after year, after year?

Your own back yard pool of course.

This has been a dream of mine for many, many years, and we are finally at the point in our lives where we could pull the trigger. It's going to be ahh, so nice. :) 400 square feet of pure aquatic bliss.

I can't wait for 4-6 weeks. I think I am going to go jump in now!

I was going to put an indoor pool in my place. But the guy downstairs complained when I started filling his living room with water.

Has anyone mentioned that the outline looks a lot like Charlie Brown's head?

Oh, fun! I would really like a pool in our yard...when I grow up. :) Everyone says they are way too much hassle but I think the benefits would outweigh the hassle. Although, I do have a giant maple tree right next to where it would go so I guess I'd better gear up for some serious maintenance.

Please share photos when it's done!

They are alot of work and money. Chemicals, swimming, vacuuming, swimming, checking the chemicals, swimming, etc, etc., oh I forgot backwash. And did I mention swimming?

Today 102 Deg F, long day at work, water temperature 80 Deg F, a beer, and a float. Takes the body temperature right down and relaxes the body.

You'll enjoy it and congratulations!

That is an awesome pool... I wish we had the depth to have a diving pool, but in order to get to 8 feet without having a cliff in the pool we'd have to take over the whole yard. And then the dogs would have to pee in the street.

Here's a day one update... the excavation work is complete!

The big square area on the left is a "love seat" where the water will be about 2 feet deep in that little shelf and you can sit and make out or whatever. :)

The "steel guys" will be here tomorrow or Friday to install the shell of rebar that the concrete will go over.

This...is...so...cool...

Sorry to keep going off, I just have to share my excitement with people and my wife is tired of me bouncing off the walls! :)

Did you dig it yourself? I really, really, really want to dig a pool by hand ala Encino Man.

Why does everyone say pools are alot of work? cant you just buy one of those vacuum's that operates on its own. Our neighbors had a peanut shaped inground pool and they just let the vacuum move on the floor of the pool and they also had one that would skim over the top of the water. Screw manual labor!
