How do you find out how many 1s vs 10s you have during voting? |
If you obsessivley update as I do then you can multiply your number of votes times your average vote and then do the same when you get another adn subtract the enumber from the first and you'll know. |

This one is a hard one to predict. Will voters go more favorably for the true black and white pictures and punish anything with color? The description says that the SUBJECT should be black and white or greyscale. The more color probably the lower the score. I have a touch of color in my background.

I'm voting high for the B&W and grayscale shots. If I see a little color, I let it slide. However, if I see a lot of color, it gets a low vote. With that said:

Ahh Interesting... I just finished voting and noticed that I mostly did the complete opposite (lower votes for stuff with extremely little to no "color")... though I really did try to just keep focus and vote based on overall quality.

The current one. The one with so much controversy surrounding it :D
I voted based on the picture and how much I liked it, regardless of the amount of color.
But I think that voting down those that took it literally as all B&W shouldn't be voted down, the same as those who left color shouldn't. There are great shots that show both sides of this. |

For those of you wondering (OK, so no one, really, but what the hell...)
It was a flight. Whatever happened to "real" airplanes, with big seats and reasonable aisles, where you could not only store your suitcase under the seat in front of you but you could actually access said suitcase during the flight without contorting your body into unattainable positions? Whatever happened to beverages and snacks, followed by actual food, albeit not always completely appetizing food?
These days it's packed in as close as possible, sometimes closer, with no room to breathe, let alone get anything from your very small carry on bag which is wedged firmly under the seat in front of you.
And I have a sore throat and a stuffy head and am generally miserable.
Besides that, my not so engaging B&W picture is still at a lovely 4.7, undoubtedly due to the fact it has a splash of color and is generally not all that engaging. It really deserves a 5.1, people. ;-) |

Some of these shots are great...and I'm sitting at 5.1 right now...whoooohoooo.....my last 2 challenges were 3.somethings and one deserved much less (thank you guys who voted just on the humor value) and I think the other deserved a low 4.
Yes, I'm extremely happy because the voting on this has been rough. I've sat right around 5 the entire voting period.
What I really and truly hope is that I start getting comments.
And I haven't been asked to validate yet.

I like "B&W in color" better than "color on color" challenge...

| I took this challenge too literal and went with a b&w subject with a color background, but after voting and seeing the awesome images that you guys are creating, I was humbled by the talent. At first I was upset by the low scores. I had to step back and look at the pictures for what they are; individual expressions and damned good shooting. Bravo. |

I am just going to forget this one and move on to Action and Zen. I have both entries in already actually. For my b/w, aside from the fact that the idea was stupid and the title even worse, the photo itself is good I think. I guess you just can't tell what will work, or at least I can't yet.
If there is ever a thread on your most embarrassing entry, this will be it for me! :>D

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those "skimmers", always a little above or below 6.0, and you won't know until the end if you crack the 6. Today I've seen it bounce between 5.82 and 6.12. |
