I downloaded RSE and took a few shots in RAW (I dont have any experience and wanted to see). I noticed that there are MANY settings you can change. Are they ALL legal? Going down the right column we have the following:
Color temp
Tint
Exp Compensation
Fill light
Shadow contrast
Highlight contrast
Saturation
Hue
Sharpness
Detail Extraction
Noise suppression
Color Noise suppresion
Hot pixel/pattern noise suppresion
I dont need a detailed description on each (that would take forever), just are they all legal or are there limitations to each?
Also....if asked for verification of a photo, would you send the RAW file or the JPEG/TIF you converted it to?

I believe that all settings will affect the whole image so should be legal. They want the original RAW for validation.

I believe that anything you can do in a RAW programme is legal even in Basic editing....EXCEPT.....altering the vignette slider.

Vignetting is only available (i think) via PS CS2

Wonder how long this will last :-)) The RAW converters are getting more functionality every release - Vignetting control is available in the LightRoom beta for example.

Ya...I know. That is why I just generalized by writing 'RAW programme because there are probably other programmes that are already or are on their way out that do have this facility.

I've found RSE helpful too. Can't say I've got the hang of all the settings, but I'm improving.

If you're asked for verification, you need to send the original RAW file - or you can send a JPG straight out of the camera. But NOT the JPEG that you converted the RAW to, because it's a modification of your original shot. RSE doesn't modify the RAW files, so whatever folder you were working in will still contain the original RAW file straight out of the camera.
