My SB-800 was sent in for warranty service (delivered to Nikon last Monday). Anyone go through this process with a flash? Any idea how long it takes to hear from them?
I was just starting to get comfortable with my flash system (2 sb600s and the sb800). Of course the one that broke is the one that controls the others. I feel very creatively slumped now. I'm probably just using it as another excuse but every time I think of something to shoot the first thing that comes into my head is "I'd want to use my flashes for that". I hate slumps. |

The shop that I used to work in dealt with Nikon Repairs. I found Nikon Warranty repairs to be pretty responsive- normally about 3 weeks for serious problems. Minor problems we saw some turn around in about a week. Haven't dealt with Nikon repairs personally for about 3 years now.
Of course that assumes they don't need to wait on parts.

My flash is fried - won't come ready any more.
Only the sb800 has su-4 mode, not the sb600 :(
I could use the onboard flash as a commander but it just doesn't work as well and doesn't add to the overall exposure that way. |

Typically flash stuff turns in about 2-3 weeks depending on backlog. |
