I figure that we will go on Friday or Saturday. Since we live in Saginaw which is so close, I could go twice. |

"Tall Ships" = clipper ships, barkentines, brigantines, old sailing vessels or newer ones built with that sort of rig. For example, the Coast Guard Academy as a training ship, the bark "Eagle", that's a modern square-rigger and participates in most of these gatherings.
MY question is; if they're "tall" ships, how do they get under the bridges into Michigan? :-)

Tall Ships are the old time sailing ships. Every year, they come into the Saginaw River at Bay City, Michigan via Lake Huron for about 4 days. They are really neat to see. They have these tall ship celebrations in different port cities from time to time. It is also a great place for a photographer. |

The only bridges they have to worry about are on the Saginaw River. They just open the bridge and let them through. It stops vehicle traffice for a little bit but that's the way it is. |

Yah, I know; it was a joke, jejeje⢠Michigan actually isn't anywhere NEAR as landlocked as most people seem to think it is, what with the St. Lawrence Seaway leading into the Great Lakes and all.
Wish I could be there for this one, I have been to several elsewhere.

Those are some nice shots Di. I was up there yesterday and it was jammed. I got some shots though so that was nice. My wife and all her sisters went to the REO Speedwagon concert there last night and said it was really good. Of course, the stop at the bar afterwords probably didn't hurt any. |
