| Still won't work. Bear_Music, Strangehost, and Ursula all had no problems with it and I appreciate their help. It won't work on my PC or my wife's PC. We both have paintshop pro 9. I don't know what else to do. These are just the ones that came from a CD. Everything else works fine. |

How many pictures? You can send me the best of them and I will convert them and send them back to you, if you wish.

Did you try using another program just to see if it's PSP or something with the computer or CD?
Bear asked of you could email him the photos, maybe you can email them to yourself and save them to the folder of your choice? THEN edit them.
I use PSP also...what EXACTLY does the error message say? I have gotten an error (can't duplicate it at will) before and I just made another edit...whether crop off 1 pixel or something like that and it saved fine.
Just a few suggestions. Hope 1 of them works.

I dont know if it has anything to do with it, but are the pictures in 16 bit mode or 8 bit mode?
If they are 16 bit try changing to 8 bit.

When I try to save it under a different name, it allows me to do it but the file size is 0. Then when I try to close the original picture out, it asks me if I want to save the changes to the original. If I say yes, it does not close the original picture out and nothing happens. If I try to close it again, we just keep going through the same scenario. I finally have to say no. The picture will close out and the changes won't be saved. |

| Have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing the program? |

If the edited version you are trying to save is jpeg, try using the jpeg optimizer. It's accessed from Export in the menu under File. Assign it a different file name.

Sounds to me like the CD might be protected. Can you upload any of the photos to DPC, Photobucket, etc? Can you email them to yourself and save them that way? If not, is there someone you know that's a computer guru? Maybe they can 'copy' them.....there's always a way.

I may have to try something like that. Like I said earlier, all other pictures work fine. It's just the ones from these CD's. I appreciate all the help from everyone. It's also good to know that DPC has such brilliant people as coronamv. Where would we be without his knowledge. |

I think I found the problem. I have to install a patch to version 9.01 which is what I have. I found this on the internet.
This patch can only be applied to Paint Shop Pro 9.01. Patch Paint Shop Pro 9.0 to 9.01 before applying this patch. Attempting to perform multiple 90-degree and 180-degee rotations of JPEG images within the Image Browser was corrupting the file. These files can now be rotated as desired within the Browser. After modifying a JPEG image containing EXIF data and then saving the image, attempts to close the image would repeatedly prompt the user to save it again. These images are now saved correctly. Files containing pattern fills with transparency or greyscale were not opening in a subsequent PSP session. These types of pattern fills are now being read and opened correctly. With the Layers palette undocked and set to Auto-hide, subsequently choosing context menu commands would suddenly turn off the palette's Auto-hide state. The undocked Layers palette now retains its Auto-hide state as intended.

I've seen this before, where files from a CD keep their ReadOnly flag, even after copying onto a hard disk. Here's what I would do...
1) Copy the CD onto your hard disk. Keep the CD as a backup, but only use the local hard-disk files for editing.
2) After copying, select all images (in Windows Explorer), right-click, select Properties, and turn the Ready Only flag off and Apply the change.
3) Try loading and saving the photos. This should work correctly now.
4) If this still doesn't work, load an image from the hard disk into PSP and SaveAs to a different filename, onto your hard disk.
Let me know what happens.

Aha, crossover in posting. It sounds like this is a real bug, and the patch should hopefully address it. I remember seeing this patch notice, but I had forgotten it, because I'd never seen any of these problems, and never installed the patch. :) I hope it works for you.
