I just got my 350D in the post. Initially, I have two problems.
1. After connecting then lens, inserting the battery (which I charged a bit first, and which is showing life), and inserting the CF... I powered it on. It seems to be function, but the LCD screen is not showing any picture preview at all. The menu shows up - but no picture preview. I hope this is just some setting that I need to set in the menu.
2. Although the 2GB sandisk card I bought seems to work fine, inserting the 4GB sandisk card gives me a card error - Err CF. There are other people on dp who have the same camera and card...
I have not really researched these problems. I JUST powered on for the first time and am worried here... any help would be good karma. |

First calm down. Your post is hard to read
Second where did you buy this camera?

Have you actually taken a photo that you're trying to preview? Because the lcd does not do live preview in case you didn't know (and some people don't).
Have you tried formatting the card that's giving you errors? |

As it is an SLR you won't get a preview on the LCD. It will show you the photo after you take it, for a few seconds. You can press the "Play" button next to the LCD to look at it longer and scroll through photos.

| I would follow the instructions on charging the battery first, I suspect it hasn't got enough charge. |

On item #1
You do not get a picture preview on the EOS 30D, or any other dSLR. I did read about one that was able to do it but I haven't seen it.
Item #2
Try formatting the 4 GB CF card, either in the camera or on your computer if you have a card reader.
Good luck! |

Doubt that. Seems the mirror would have to be constantly up

The Olympus EVOLT E-330 is the world's first interchangeable lens digital SLR to offer a true "Live View" image on the LCD screen.

Ha! I can't believe that after all my hardware research I failed to realize that the camera offers no LCD pre-picture preview. I am sorry to have posted that bit of silliness. All I have ever owned were Minoltas and they all had that feature.
So... question number 1 becomes a moot point.
I will try and format the larger card.
Thank you all for replying so quickly - I am already much relieved. |

Formatting the card was it. Works perfectly.
Sorry about the little panic post. Thank you all for understanding. |
