I mean on another site. It's not the same as your challenge entry. |

well this is a shot in the dark but
she's a model so someone at picture.com may recognize her from other pictures they've seen of her (that DO have more personal information about her). They see the pic on DPC and decide to advertise to her.
Or it's someone that personally knows her from somewhere and are either directly or indirectly connected to picture.com
I know it sounds far fetched but picture.com has to be a fairly large organization and investigation has to be one of their larger departments since they track down and solicit so many photographers. |

You are correct, I had forgotten about that. I just looked at it & it has only Shannon's first name associated with it (not the dog's). |

Shannon isn't a professional model (although she looks like she could be), so that isn't a possibility either I'm afraid. |

See how easy it is to forget? ;)
Does she have a website at all? |

I'd be willing to bet that she uploaded or had it printed, or it was on a disc with something she had printed, at a place affiliated with picture.com.
Either that, or the dog did it;)

No, she doesn't. And as far as her mailing address and that email account, I didn't have either. |

Has this photograph been posted on any other website other than dpchallenge? or has the file been given to a retailer to be printed? |

Wouldn't picture.com have to have proof of submission? |

I don't think any of us knows her address either. I'd check with the family. |

Right, and I'm not suggesting that. Only that the "trail" started here. The dog isn't hers, so family members wouldn't know the dog's name was Ellie. This is all very strange. |

So you gave the name of the dog here? And the model's name? But not her email?...Curiouser and curiouser.

No clue how they could have retrieved her information, I am pretty sure you couldn't do much about them printing your photo. They can do that legally providing that they are only advertising it to you and that they do not publish it for profit without your written consent.
My wife submitted a photo of our first born child to a cute baby contest, a month afterwards we were informed that the photo had won in it's class, and was selected to be published in a photo book, However we would never know if it was published unless we purchased one of the books for 50 dollars. My wife was skeptic so she contacted them and asked that we see the book before purchase, They then sent us a color copy of the page our daughters photo would be appearing on in the book. We talked to a lawyer and found out that the book was not yet published and that the sample page they sent us was perfectly legal unless they used our photo to advertise the book to other people. We also learned that if we didn't agree to purchase one of the books our photo would be left out of the book.
So the photo only would have won if we spent 50 bucks. In this case they had our contact information from when my wife submitted the photo,
The deal you got going here makes ya think about how it is way too easy for peoples personal info to be snapped up by anyone that wants to go looking for it. Kind of Scary.
