Been busy writing a textbook that, thankfully, is off to the publisher. Finally able to look at some pics I've taken in the last couple months. Here are a few from my nephew's wedding - did I go too far in the pp? I edited a few until I liked them, then kept messing with them! I'm not normally a big fan of selective desat, but I like the first pic here - seems to work for me (my girls are the flower girls, so that's part of it, I guess).

Thoughts?

The pics look very good. Yes, you did do a lot of editing, but it looks good and thats what counts.

Number 1 and 2 are my favorite. I think the selective desat works well in the first pic.

I agree with you...I don't really like the selective desat. Not even in #1. But I do like #2 a whole lot.

Curious what method of B&W conversion you did on #3. Nice.

Method #3 here., and a whole lot of dodge and burn I'm thinkin.

Here is the original...



I converted to BW by method #2 in the prior link (Channel Mixer). I then used the 'clarify' tool in PSP10 a lot (and I mean a lot). After one or two applications of the clarify tool I selected everything but the guy in the photo because the clarify tool was making him look odd. Then, I bumped the contrast on everything and corrected the exposure on the guy in the pic separate from the rest.

As my description probably gives away, I am not very sophisticated at post processing....

Make sure the vertical and horizontal lines are straight, especially if you have multiply lines as frames.

My brother recently got married and a rather good shot was ruined by a slanted horizonatal lines. Prints were ordered through the photographer so it was expected for him to fix it.
