Hey I was just wondering how folks felt about the pi images. I found some really interesting and creative photos this week: certainly some of the most intellectually stimulating we've had in a while, and some go even beyond that to feelings and a kind of mythos.
While I've enjoyed seeing many of the literal pictures of the symbol pi, I've also really enjoyed some of those that show what pi does (make or calculate circles) and the complexity of pi.
Some make me hungry, too. |

There are some really great photos in this challenge. It was a really hard challenge to respond to, and as such, we've gotten a lot of the same kinds of things. But a few really stick out as particularly well done.
Also, I don't think it will take a super-high score to win this week. I'm thinking 6.7ish will place.

Really? Shows you what I know. I'll be curious to see which ones they are. |

It seems that some voters have a very specific idea of what pi should be, which surprises me as I thought it would be wide open to interpretation. It's kind of disappointing that there wasn't more flexibility. I consulted my physicist father on my entry, but few people seem to think it fits the challenge. Oh well.

I can see a lot of entries being used for magazines or text book covers, especially those that have a "math in everyday life" kind of feel.

I'm amazed at some of the great photos in this challenge. I didn't enter it because I had no idea what to do and figured it would take too long to setup (I barely made the Color challenge). One thing that popped into my head was a pic called "Here's a PI For You!" which would be someone getting big messy pie in the face. LOL, but I couldn't find any volunteers for it. :) Plus "retakes" would be a problem.
I scored these entries a bit higher then usual because of the more difficult subject. Good luck to all that entered. |

I also enjoyed the Pi challenge, I didn't submit anything because I too found it extra difficult. Not everyone enjoyed it though, here's a quote from another thread from someone who shall remain nameless :)
"(for the Pi challenge - sorry people, but I'm not commenting...it's just not a fun challenge, the pics aren't interesting enough - I'll comment on maybe 15 out of the lot) "
Just another view.

Well, certainly not ALL of the photos are fantastic. But as with any challenge, many are. I've found this tight constraint of a challenge very interesting.
