Yeah she is silly. I think if the New Zeland prime minister (or government) sticks its foot in its mouth one more time, it's going to get Athlete's Tongue. :)

Frankly Hoogie, nobody in the USA cares what she has to say. She, your government, and most of the people (I said most, not all) are no friends of the USA, and we that watch and know, realize that. :) You're really trolling (again) tonight aren't you?

that has to be a joke right? i was laughing the whole time. i really don't know what to make of it. if it's real, those people need some more actual issues to talk about because they were getting a little too worked up over that. who cares if new zealand hates america, they are fine where they are and we are fine with them.

Yep. I just thought I should clarify a bit here. You see, we, the people of the United States, recently elected ChrisW here as our universal spokesperson. That's why he can make statements for the entire U.S. public. I wouldn't want you to mistakenly assume that he was overgeneralizing or projecting his personal opinions onto the rest of the population.

Thank-you, Wingy. I will take my new responsibility seriously, and try to maintain your level of confidence. :)

I never over-generalize... :) "We" means 80% of the US poplulation supports Bush in his efforst to free Iraq. So I'd say that 80% is in fact "we". ;^)

True. And I count myself among that 80%. However, I missed the pole where 80% of Americans said they think that the opinions of New Zealand's leaders or people are meaningless.
The fact is that it's frustrating to see you repeatedly discredit people's opinions because of where they are from. It very much seems that you are of the opinion that anyone or any country who does not agree with you is an idiot and a commie. Instead of discussing the issues at hand, you often seem to resort to attacking the courage, intelligence, or power of the opposition. I'm all for a good debate, but I hope you'll keep your methods a little more respectable so that I won't regret the fact that we're on the same side of this issue.

Nicely said Wingy... but I've never said anyone is an "idiot" or "attacked their intellegence". Was that just an oversite on your part?

As for being "a commi", I'll stand by that. Do some research yourself and THEN tell me I'm wrong. :) I'm not going name any specific country any longer unless provoked, but all I'm saying is do your research first on this or that country or the UN, etc., and then comment.

You said "discredit people's opinion based on where they are from"... No, I listen to people's opinion and then ask myself WHY they have that opinion. Part of asking myself "why" is considering where they are from. It's part of the process don't you think? And 9 times out of 10, the country in which they live explains a lot about their opinions.

Wingy, I think you need start defending and giving the benefit of the doubt to your OWN country (and people who defend it, especially if you have read what they say in other posts) and not people who put down your country. THAT is politically correct in my opinion, and if that's "not respectable" to you I really don't care. :)

Actually chris lots of people care what other countries say be it NZ/OZ/CANADA but i really dont think anyone cares what you have to say.

I posted this because i thought it was funny ,and my prime minister said something she shouldnt have.

I have never met anyone in my country that hates americans and i certainly dont hate any , where did you get this information , from your disillusional brain?

You are a critical, nasty and unknowledgable person and as i stated before...you need help.

achiral it was a 2 min clip of a 24hour day...this was brought up discussed for 2 minutes then more important matters were discussed.

Do you really think a government would spend a day over this matter ....i dont think so.

NZ does not hate america i dont know where you get this from ,but having a government that opposes the war dosent mean the population hate americans, in fact its quite the opposite.

Alright, I'll admit I can't cite examples of you attacking anyone's intelligence, so I apologize for that accusation.
I'll wholeheartedly agree that where a person is from has a large impact on their opinions. Of course that's certainly true of yourself and of myself as well. And I also agree that it's not illigitimate to consider that factor when considering someone's opinion. It's merely the practice of attacking the country a person comes from or claiming it to be inferior in some way that I consider to be a poor tactic of debate.
For the sake of being unbiased, I generally try not to give my country the benefit of the doubt any more than any other country, although I'm sure I do anyway.

I guess I'll I'm really saying here is that debate is a wonderful thing, and when done as cleanly as possible it is a highly productive thing that leads to better understanding of opinions and sometimes the decision by one party to abandon their opinion for a better one.
However, when debate turns ugly, as it so very easily and frequently does, it merely leads to enhanced tensions and closed minds.
So.. I hope everyone on this site will debate with the intention of understanding and explanation (pursuation is a natural part of explanation), and not with the intention of simply proving others wrong and showing their inferiority.

that was two minutes of clips...it was obvious that the argument lasted much longer than that in real time. i don't really understand how you could say that nz isn't antiamerican when the legislative body specnt a bunch of time rabbling over how they were angry about an apology that the prime minister had given pres bush. it was a pretty pointless debate and it just showed comtempt for america

LOL youve got it wrong achiral the opposition support usa in the war they are mad at helen clarke because she said something stupid towards bush and in return parliament kicked up a stink so she wrote a letter of apologie to bush.

The problem is the opposition want to see that letter (as proof etc) but helen clarke refuses to show them thats why they are yelling ,but she wont show them and states its personal.

its just a stupid carry on , but national party (the opposition) wanted to send troops to help usa as did some of the labour party its actually the minority in our government that dont support the war and that happens to be our P.M

I suppose if you dont know the whole story the video clip can be mis-interperated, but ALL the people yelling are the ones that support the war and bush.

The worst thing our prime minister has ever said against the USA is "If gore was in power then there wouldnt have been a war" and i assure you she is paying dearly for saying that!

I am actually in the minority in my country most people support the war.(only just)

Im shocked you actually thought our government was mad at helen clarke because she wrote an apology to bush....wow NZ have always supported usa in the past .

I just expected you to listen to it carefully and then you would discover it wasnt what you thought, its easy to see people getting upset and presuming they are anti-american without listening!

*sigh* okay, my point really still stands, those people really need more things to talk about, it doesn't really matter to me which side wastes your money
