Please, laugh at me with this as I'm trying to be up beat about it!
I have just self dq'd myself from the perspective challenge because of the camera date! According to the cam I took the shot after the competition closed!!
I found out about the date issue before the submissions ended and after talking with a member of the site council for rule clarification decided to remove it but being the numpty I am forgot and went to bed. It wasn't going to set the world on fire and I'd probably not have had a request for the original, and was scoring above my average.
How did I manage to take the shot with the wrong camera date? well, I think it was my pc's fault. I've been having problems with my pc recently and on Saturday did my 2nd reformat in a week. I soon noticed that the clock was wrong and just set it to the correct time (I set the time correctly but had forwarded it onto the next day)I took a few shots on Saturday but my multi card reader was not recognised by the pc so plugged the cam into the pc (have never done that before) and am presuming the cam date was reset to the pc time???? (Canon 1d software).
Anyway, I always feel sorry for people dq'd for having the wrong date on their cam but usually snigger to myself for their stupidity.
Am I trying to make a point here? well, yes, many people think the date rule is wrong and in instances where it is obvious the shot was taken within the dates (or could not have been taken on the date the exif says) then the submission should stand. Me? I stand by the rules regardless of if I agree with them or not, I messed up and will be more careful in future. the shot was taken outside and by the time I realised my mistook the light had gone so I could not retake it.
I'll not show my image until after the comp but just have one word to say - lego
oh, and a big thanks to the site council members that I talked with, you all do good work ;)

Yes, I know.
I think my camera clock does screwy things when I pull the batteries to recharge them. My (not very good) 10 photo was dated before the camera was even on the market. A good excuse to give it a miss.
ADD, Not so good with the boring technical details. |
