How do I get over overthinking a challenge and fear of not submitting something that most people will think fits the challenge? I see many photos in the Persepective Challenge, that in my opinion do not fit the challenge. I would have loved to submit for it, but I felt that something I would have taken a photo of would not have worked. Do I just do it, and not worry?

the important thing is that YOU feel it fits the challenge. If YOU feel that it fits, and if you feel that it's a good picture, then even if you get low scores they don't bother you as much. I mean, the scores frustrate you, but they're more likely to make you doubt the voters than yourself.

I'm not sure how one really gets over it. Maybe it's just a self confidenc thing. I think that different people build it in different ways. Some people have a natural self assurance about them, others need every assurance provided to them, and every point in between.

Be precise, be intentive, be superlative. If you have an idea that needs to come to life, do everything in your power to make it happen. When you know that you have done well, confidence is no longer a problem. Do not be afraid to put in the effort that you know it will take. Anything less than all you have, is not enough.

"You don't take a photograph, you make it." - Ansel Adams. Everyone thinks of photography from the outside as if the photographer is just a passive participant. Not true. Change your viepoint. Get in your car and drive into that sunset, get in the bushes and find a bug, take those candid shots, create that crazy setup for the perfect studio shot.

Go make something. ;-)

Part of the valuable learning aspect of the chalenges is finding out whether the voters share your views. That includes questions of DNMC. What we find out might not be pleasant, but we certainly will learn! So my recommendation is to turn the fear into curiosity as to whether others will agree or disagree with you.

Some may not agree with this but here's my two cents -

If your problem is that you are worrying that your shots are not going to do well because of DNMC, then concentrate on that single aspect for a few challenges. Just make meeting the topic the highest priority in planning and executing your entries. This means that you will probably have to sacriface in other areas such as creativity, technical quality, and even hopes for a very high score. But if you push your entries to make sure that no one can say they are DNMC, you should build confidence in your ability to do that part. After you feel comfortable that you have found a level of agreement with the voters on how the topics are interpreted, then you can branch out, and devote more to the other aspects, without that inner nagging about DNMC. Hope this helps.
