After many of the web site suggestion threads, there's a post saying "it's on the list."
Would it be possible to publish the list and let members vote on the priority they would like to see each entry have?
A brute force way to do it would be to create a jpg file for each list item with the name and text description of the feature. then let members vote and comment just as though it was a challenge. There are probably better ways.
Customer (member) input might be valuable to D&L and it might give a sense of the features that members feel would most increase the value of the site "to them."
Just a thought.

Maybe they can add this item to the list. |

Guess I walked into that one! But seriously, what do you think of member input on priorities?

That might give an added advantage to those who have read "the list" and thought in advance about the topics. Members are not supposed to know in advance which topics are likely to come up, or it makes the competition unfair. |

I think he meant the website suggestions list not the challenge topic list!

Oh, OK, though I'm not sure how Langdon would use that information ... |

One simple way to implement this with existing site capabilities is to create a permanent poll of the shortlisted items. Those items coule be those specific enough to actually be completed, and are of course within the scope of the site. Then each member selects the one they most want to see completed.
Since poll votes can be changed, it gives D&L a continuously updated snapshot of the communities interests. Such interest polls are invaluable in directing the course of the site -- although D&L are of course not oblicated to follow it rigorously. Not all items are equally capable of being implemented in the time available to them.
Further, I would suggest the forum thread suggesting that particular item be linked to from the item in the poll. I do hope the forum thread was linked to on the list, since many times it is noted the suggestion is being added to the list while discussion is taking place -- often before the idea has been fully fleshed out. This forum thread would provide an up-to-date record of the communities expectations and views of the suggestion. I would also expect the top ranked suggestions in the poll to be revisited in the forums; what better place than the thread of the original suggestion.
Of course, the original suggestion may have been made as a part of a much broader thread, so perhaps new threads would be advisable -- don't know, but I do like the idea of an on-going discussion for each of the polled suggestions.
