Thank you (and Karen) Am glad some of you liked it :-)

There were many creative and well executed shots which didn't do too well. Shame.

I liked this one:

I thought it had a cool texture for being straight out of the camera...kind of reminded me of Neil Shapiro's abstracts...except Neil's are more 'swooshy' (is that a technical term?:)

Also....on this one that was mentioned earlier:

I really liked it...but something was off...I'm thinking it may be the immediate foregrouned where there appears to be the dark edge of a leave that may have been in the way....or maybe having a flower peak around the back entrance? I really loved the 'outside of the box idea' on this one.

I had hoped mine would score a little higher (within 6.5 territory was what I had hoped for). It started out much higher and gradually dropped throughout the week.

Two more underrated image IMO:

Flower Dance??
It was so difficult to get the right focus due to wind. I was hoping for above 6 on this one.

I was looking through the flower entries, and was disappointed to see the following finishing so poorly:

: Killer great shot IMO, a totally different POV, mystical and evocative, flower-as-landscape

: I found this one to be quite ephemeral and lovely, nice and understated but a tangible glow to it.

: I was really disappointed in the very low finish of this completely different shot. I love the way the title ties the concept together. This is a shot that tells a little story, and I think it's very well done and thought-provoking in a nice way.

: I'm not surprised this scored low, given the DPC mindset, but I think it is a wonderful, funky piece of conceptual art that deserved better. Image and title work together nicely to tell a strange, even morbid, tale.

So good on you four! Who else can point out some underrated flowers (in their own opinion of course)?

R.

Ah, Bear, now you're making me blush. Thank you for the kind words.

There were a lot of great shots in Flowers, so naturally, some of them were overlooked by the voters. I think any of these could have ribboned.

Some of these were so different and were some of my personal favorites. Imaginative and creative. The first two finished in the top 30 but I thought they would do better. The rest were all over the show and again I had hoped they would do better.

I thought mine was underrated, but oh well. I agree with a lot of the ones posted in this thread. It was tough to a point, but not that tough IMO on the voting. I got 2 of the top 3 and 3 of the top 5. But I feel there were some that just didn't get what they were due.

Such a great example of transition from high key and softness to strong lines and strength. Not to mention a very strong composition. Well done Sandy!

Thanks everyone for the comments on my flower shot. I truly appreciate it. It's lovely to see this thread with my pic. I thought there were some absolutely stunning images in the entire challenge. There were so many that I thought should have finished higher.

IMHO, this one was very unrated.
