i have heard mixed opinions and wanted to find out what others did.
Do you do your processing in photoshop and then run the finished image through neat image? or do you run the straight from camera photo through neat image and then photoshop?
I had very good results processing the image in photoshop, then neat image, then back to photoshop for USM.
Which do you do? I tend to be a bit of a technical person so an explanation of the pros and cons of each method would be helpful. |

Theorectically, it is better to remove noise before processing, thus not making the noise worse. Also, if yo are using camera profiles, the program will work better on an unaltered image.

I used Neat Image at the end of the processing, and found out that the look of the picture was quite unnatural, and that not all of the noise was removed. I then tried using it as the first step in post processing, and not only it works better and the final result is more natural, but you can use the profiles made for your specific camera for best results.

With the compression the free version uses it is pointless to use it early in the workflow. With the full version earlier is better, and a very light touch.
