I use the free download version for the few times I actually use NI. I'm not a big fan of Noise Reduction software.

I use 5.25 Pro.
I like the batch function. I group all the shots taken with same ISO on same shoot together and put those into the queue (applying the 20D profile for that particular ISO, usually only to remove half the noise or less) and once they are added to the queue and processing through I can carry on adding further shots (with different ISOs) to the queue.
Batching is worth the money!

Use v5.4 Pro+
Bought specifically for the PS plugin that I uses almost exclusively from within Photoshop.

I started with the free one, and then moved up to the one that has the plug in for PS (and a standalone version). I had a wedding that i had to shoot at ISO800and 1600 so i needed to batch 600 images - and I moved up the biggie version. Under $100 total. I shoot with two cameras at various ISOs - the batch part can identify camera and ISO and use the proper profile for noise reduction. Real timesaver.
the plug in version is nice - you can do a layer of noise reduction, fade it, or isolate part of it via a mask, etc.

If you have profiles set up for the different ISOs (i just downloaded the ones from the NI site) there is a preference you can set where NI will read the ISO the image was shot and pick the right profile automatically - no sorting needed! Awesome. It will also pick the right ISO in PS if you use the plug in too!!

Yes I use the profiles downloaded from their site but don't know how to get it to autodetect - is that in 5.25 or a later version? Can you tell me how to get that to work - that would be SOOOO useful to me, I cannot tell you!

Currently use 5.4+ pro. NetImage is not the only noise reduction program, but it is a good one. I have had NeatImage for several years and all upgrades are free once you buy into the program.
I would recommend the plug-in version if you have photoshop.
I have not used batch functions but profiles load automatically for me in advanced mode.
For xp - To install profiles drag or copy them to
Open Best Matching Profile if not already loaded - your correct (if the profile is correct) camera and settings will automatically be detected and profile installed - one can also specify various settings.
I also have found Kodak Digital-Gem, the 8 bit version (a soft focus plug) to be effective and useful for noise reduction. Am considering upgrading to Digital Gem Pro for 16 bit work. (Thanks to dahkota for mentioning that program a while back).
