Hi
A couple of folks commented on the orange cast in this image and I thought I'd take a second to give some background.
This shot was taken about 20 miles out side of Lubbock Tx.
There was a fairly furious thunderstorm going about 5 miles to the east (toword Lubbock)
The orrange cast is from all of the dust being whipped up into the sky.
I did lighten the image a smig as it was very dark and very orange.
I thought that I would get pinged on the colorcast (knew it going in... so I am NOT griping about the score) but I thought that the sky was so wierd it almost looked other worldly. The rainbow (yes it was the same kinda orange color) added to the strangeness of the whole scene.

Very strange. I wonder if darker might not have been better, though? Maybe some corner darkening too, get real claustrophobic and moody?
Something more in this direction, maybe:

I agree with Bear. In addition, since this was an Advanced editing, you can select just the sky and leave the greens in the foreground. Having them all orange seems a bit overwhelming.
Look at this outtake I had for the 30 second challenge. This was done in Basic Editing.
I used a graduated sunset filter on this one and modified the RAW color temperature in RSE. |
