I'm trying something new this week. I'm entering three challenges (Flowers, Straight from the Camera, Stationary), and I'm turning off my scores. That's right, no scores, no comments, no favorites, NO UPDATE BUTTON! Cold Turkey. After all, there's nothing I can do about them once the voting starts, so why worry about them. Right?
Who's with me? Can I make it a whole week? Can you?

Sorry, I don't enter all that many challenges, so I wouldn't want to miss out on that delicious misery. |

I'm on holiday starting Tuesday... does that count? :P
Or do I have to turn off from Monday? :S

Monday...no scores allowed! (Actually, I'll be away next weekend as well, so I won't have access for two days anyway.)
Think about it, this way you only have to wonder once why no one understands or appreciates your photo. You won't have to worry, wonder or be angry all week long. And the trolls won't get to your psychy either.

I talked about doing this as well. I have entries into all three - 2 rather mediocre and one I think is strong. I am not sure if I can do it with my scores turned off, but I am willing to try. I may not be able to handle not looking at comments though. Let me think about it a bit more and I will give an answer tonight. Maybe the two of us can be accountability partners through the week. |

I usually have my score showing, but I usually wait to read the comments until the voting's over. Good luck with your experiment! |

Have fun with your scoreless week. Piece of advice however, don't forget to check your email (the one associated with DPC registration) as any requests for photo validation will come via email.
Request for photo validation shows in your score section on the DPC front page...since you'll have it turned off email is the only way for you to know about it.
edit to finish second sentence. ;^)

OK Larry - my scores are turned off and I will (at least try) not to read my comments. I will be amazed if I can make it 48 hours, but lets give it a go. |

i'm trying, too, just because i'm frustrated with my flower score even though i told myself not to let scores get me down. grrrrr...
i will admit it's not as jaw-dropping as many other images, but someone just gave me a "3" and i soooo don't deserve that. :)

What a great idea. I've just turned them off. I keeps me from seeing my fours and fives. I think I'll have many scoreless weeks :) |

I am going to try this for a while... as long as I can handle I guess. I am one of the weak people here who cannot control the "Button Finger" :P
This way I probably can do some work too in the office ARGH.
...maybe check the scores once before I go to bed or something... ARGH.
Edit:
It last only 3 hours... I just CAN NOT DO IT...

I'll be sorry I asked this, I'm beyond addicted. How can you see individual ratings? |

ok - confession - I did look at initial scores once about 30 minutes after opening. Really wish I hadnt but it is definitely incentive to not coninue looking as the scores were the worst I have seen since just after joining. Both challenges were really really bad. I will probably still check out comments but odds are not many will come through as my shots are really really bad. It will get tough after tomorrow though as I think i have a shot that is really really good. Does it count against me that I have been watching my wifes scores? I am such an addict. |

I checked mine this morning. I have three up right now. All three are well within the "DrAchoo post-challenge commenting zone". So I shall click on the pictures (without the scores showing) every now and then to check for comments.
Frankly, I'm not disappointed with two of them - I know better than to think I can "do" flowers - have lots to learn in that department. I knew my Glass entry would score poorly going in and that's fine. But I am disappointed in my "out of the camera." Ah well. Move on and learn, right? And just when you think you're disappointed, cool things will happen, like getting comments on a favorite picture in your portfolio. Thanks to a couple of folks who did just that for me today! |

Amazing!! I love not having the update button. When you're getting a good score it's good to have it but when the score is as low as mine the update button just makes you worried. I am so uncreative when I have low scores. Now I've gotten a very good idea. I hope I can put into a great photograph.

Okay, Roll Call!
Who hasn't peaked?
I haven't.
I haven't been tempted. I thought I had a couple nice shots, then I looked at the rest. I don't even want to know what I've got now. Wednesday is when my masterpiece goes up. That I don't want to see the scores for the opposite reason. I don't want to be mad when it doesn't score as high as it should. ;-)
