thought i'd share a moment from a couple nights ago. quite a sight.
i am glad i was able to capture a full arch rainbow with no man made elements in the scene. a rare thing i figure.

How about with a little PP?

Didn't have much of a file to work with and its not full res...but gives you an idea of what I think that image should really have as far as impact.

That PP looks great. As a PP novice I'd be keen if you could outline the steps you took on this as when I try I just seem to make my pics look wierd!

yours is bit extreme maybe. figure you used a curve and a level.
trouble is editing for full res rather than web res is a bit different. noise is an issue with the original here.

thanks for the input ;}

besides levels, curves, dodging and burning, I use some filters that don't come standard with photoshop...and I use them for different things in the photo, not applied to the entire photo...

so steps wouldn't really help you that much...if you have specific questions then I can help you with that...just PM me.

Nice capture. The brilliant well lighted green foreground foliage makes this a striking image. It is very interesting how the rainbow marks a boundary between the darker sky above and the bright clouds below. It could uses some noise reduction in the sky and if you could brighten and highlight the rainbow more it would be even better.

that is a wonderful image!

i could have got a double full arch with just my wooden cabin in view, last year in scotland but only had my p&s camera at the time and the lens was not wide enough to fit it in :(

the image i posted is a combination of two 18mm captures.

i'm going to rework on mine today if it rains. the rainbow came out very faint in the original. i had a hard time bringing it out. i'll see what i can mangage though

thanks !

Never a better time to learn panoramic! Lol.

Or...if it were me...I would have taken off running in the other direction to get as far away as I could to see if I could have gotten the shot. (not sure what is behind your house though...maybe thats not a possibility)

i have got quite a few that i had a go at stiching but either the rainbow is wonky or the cabin??

i used a cheesy 'photostitch' that came with the canon camera. not the greatest thing. but seemed to do a decent job.

third edit.

the fact the rainbow divides bright from dark is a result of another oncoming storm. the sun was projected through a hole in the clouds. the two storms were connected by a spine like cloud formation seen cutting through the rainbow.

less noise - more realistic to what i saw.
