My family and I are planning to go to the RCA Tennis Championships in Indianapolis later this month. Smartypants and I, of course, plan to shoot as much as possible.
Does anybody know if there are restrictions? We'll be there for the first 3 days so there will be lots of chances to see bigger players in their early round matches on the side courts, where I'm assuming we can get closer and shoot over the walls. I'd love to shoot with the 400mm but will such a large lens tag us as pro? Will the shutter clicks distract the players?
I've searched the official web site but can find no guidelines for amateur photographers. Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing? |

I've no idea, but it's an excuse to point out one of my favourite shots on the site ... lots of lines involved in tennis.

I would contact the venue directly and ask for any restrictions on lense lenght or camera size. I have been to a number of professional sporting events where the venues do not post anything on their website about camera restriction, but after arriving, no lense longer than 5-inches was allowed in the arena. Just my two-cents. |
