And they're not even going in the same direction (I wouldn't do it either..)

I always have a touch of guilt when I watch these things. It's a great idea that I would not be stupid enough to try but the guilt comes from this feeling that I want to see just one of them clip another and then watch the train wreck that would immediatly follow.

We all watch racing for the crashes so no need to feel guilty and besides in all the years I've seen the wall of death, I've not seen an accident. I did see Doug Danger miss and hit the roof of a building once when attempting a jump through fire. He was banged up but came out OK.

This really was a lot of fun!! Thank you to neophyte (Dexter) for the pass - It was very generous. Here is a required pic of Dexter taking pics (well chimping anyway)...

I spent a couple of hours with Dexter wandering around and then hit the demo - stunt - burnout - crazy person area for the next 6 odd hours. I was close enough to get the odd bit of rubber thrown my way and I believe I will have coughed out the last of the rubber smoke by this time next week :-)

Anyway, I thought I would change the colour of my shirt and post a selection for your comments. This is the main gallery

I have 2 favs - for different reasons. A number of times auto-focus gave up due to the lack of light or the smoke hiding anything that could give it enough contrast to focus (even the 70-220f4), so I played a fair bit with pre-focusing and it went better than I thought.

This one was is prefocused on the orange finish line and waiting, waiting...

This amazed me a) I could hold it this steady and b) The details the camera was able to get in what was basically a poorly lit area [ISO3200, 200mm, 1/100 and f4].
