how about Padre or someplace like that on the coast...

We just want to get out of the Texas HEAT...sure it might be a tad hot in other places...but not quite like Texas...unless you live in a desert some place.

Sorry. Google it is best; Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri. Beautiful hill country, wildly popular tourist destination, or it used to be anyway. I haven't been there in over 20 years. To some extent it may have remained relatively quaint, like Cape Cod has, but I don't really know. Maybe someone else does. I loved it when I was there, beautiful country and a BIG freaking lake too. Sort of the Midwestern equivalent of Tahoe, you might say...

We were there a few years back - Sunrise Beach in Lake of the Ozarks. It was very beautiful and peaceful. Very undiscovered. Lots of great antiquing too!

That place looks awesome...but might be a tad out of our price range...sad.

Well we have focused it down to Branson, Missouri...for it being so close to the lake, mountains, caverns, and 1 hour from Eureka Springs...which was said by many as a place we should go...not really by anyone here but relatives. Thanks though for all the suggestions...hope to bring back many great shots...and if anyone knows some other stuff around those parts feel free to let me know so I don't miss out on anything.
