kteach...in the future I'll try to provide lots of links to forums we discuss, members I chat with or interview, etc. Great suggestion. For the record, the person I was chatting with goes by fence kicker on DPC not full life. I was using her nickname on another service where I knew her from. My mistake! LOL

Weird... I posted a reply to this and it disappeared. Anyway:
Lee, I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast! For me, it was a perfect combination of chat and interview. I like Fencekicker's suggestion above for linking to the profiles of the podcast participants each week, either in a forum thread or on your profile page. You've got a perfect podcast voice and tempo.
To Laurus: You are awesome! Your English is great. I will also add that I never once noticed that you said "actually" alot. Guess I'll have to listen again someday so I can make fun of you ;-), but for now I'll just tell you the truth ... you gave a fun, lively, and interesting interview. It was great to look at the pictures in your portfolio as you discussed them. Also was helpful to hear how you think of the challenges as a real job in a way, as well as your thoughts on lighting. |

Please don't take this personal. I think I'm one of the very few people (maybe the only one?) who doesn't like to listen to podcasts. I don't know, it seems like embarrassing or something like that. I really tried, this edition and the fist one, but after 5 seconds I have to turn it off again.. weird, huh!
Anyway, what I do want to say:
I think it's great to have something like this for ALL the people who DO love this (and, as you can see, there are lots of them!)
Keep up the good work!!

biteme, maybe the reason you particularly dislike podcasts is that you don't see the point of listening to someone talk for 20 minutes. I can understand that totally. However, you might be more interested in the interview part because that's not just someone talking to you. If you manage to try again, just fast forward the audio to the last 11 minutes are so. However, it's not really important that you grow a taste for podcasts. I don't think you're missing anything. :)

Puzzled (and all those who took the time to write)...thanks for your comments and encouragement. That's really nice to hear because it's the only reward I get for putting the time and effort into this thing. I just want to know if people find it interesting enough to continue and if I'm getting the style and mix of content vs. interview, etc right. Looks like this one is arguably better than episode 1. I liked it a lot more myself. |

I listened to it last night and it was good. It all sounded professional and was interesting. I never would have expected Larus to sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Note to self, don't make fun of any of his glass shots. :P

Lee I personally think it's a great way to get somewhat a "personal" approach to the members of this site. I did find it interesting that Mr. Caveman sounded like Arnold or more like a bodybuilder rather than a photographer. It's not that I expected a high pitched voice from Larus but from looking at his self portraits, I didn't expect his deep voice. It was fun and now whenever I see one of his posts in the forum, I can associate a voice with it ;)
Keep up the good work. It's a lot of fun for us but I bet it's a a heck of a lot of work for you. Great job!
You've added another facet to this wonderful community ;)
Cheers,
Rikki |

yanko, thanks but I don't think "professional" quite describes the sound...lol. There are so many bad cuts, levels problems, etc. I'm embarrassed about the levels terribly. |

Yeah I know. I remembered from last week but I forgot to install a certain software. What do i need to install Lee? You're in WA so it'll be easy to coordinate. I'm usually hope by 9:30pm and I'm a night owl. I'm up until about 2am :)
Just let me know :)
This will force me to update my PC. It's a bit on the fritz at the moment :( |

Rikki, actually I can call you from my computer to your land line (home phone) if you're comfortable with that). Skype can call US numbers for free like a regular phone and I can still record it. My chat partner and I did this for episode 2. |

Great job Lee!! While I thought the interview with Larus was pretty good, you didn't ask him any real hardball questions. Like do his models take steroids for shots like this. Let's try to kick it up a notch for episode 3. If you are interviewing Rikki, I'll PM you some dirt - like how he wet the bed til he was 24.
Also - who was that woman you were talking to? "Fulllife"? I couldn't find her profile on here. I think you were doing both voices. ;-P
Keep it up!

Maybe so but I wasn't expecting state of the art production with audio engineers and audio equipment worth $$$$. Ok, maybe I should ask if you did have that setup first. :P Heck, I use to listen to the Howard Stern show all the time and they always had audio problems. At least your microphone worked. :P |

Art, I actually had you in my notes to talk about in episode 2 but I couldn't get Larus to shut up so he stole your mic time. LOL (j/k). I'll make sure to get you some good coverage in episode 3!! |

First off, Ive listened to both episodes and the 2nd one is greatly improved, I really liked it. It was fun to hear u guys/gals laughing.
I think the idea of announcing the winners is nice, but then again everyone knows who won that is listening.. maybe shorten that up, not say how many ribbons, etc..
I think having a topic is the key, even if you have to "It" discuss yourself, or maybe ask people opinion on a certain question Via a pm, then use they answers in the cast, that along with a featured photographer each week would make a great show.
You really do well at this, you seem very natural.
On the technical side I was wondering about this too?
Originally posted by wavelength: dang, I only have one speaker here at work. |
You interview has you in the right speaker and the "guest" in the left?
Any reason you choose this route, insted of both of you in same speakers?
Edited the discuss topic sentence, before it read discuss "yourself".. lol not what I meant..

buzzrock, to be honest with you I'm pretty new to all this technology and didn't realize until I had made my recordings for the week that my software was capturing one side of the conversation in one channel and the other on the other channel. I don't know if it is Skype doing this or if it is HotRecorder which I use to record the Skype chat. I'm going to look at the settings tomorrow and see if I can change the settings to record on both channels. Any suggestions from the more technically advanced would be greatly appreciated. |
