Crap - I ordered mine on Sunday without the lens... I suppose I could buy two and send one back? :-)

Good buy for those who didn't just order one...

I think this is done a lot. Go for it if you can. But be aware that Dell is famous for taking a long time to deliver their camera and lens specials.

Nah, I'll just be happpy with what I've already done. Should be here this evening, which is way better than waiting to see if/when Dell can deliver. :-)

This makes me hurt inside... :(

I really want to move up to one of those, with a battery grip...

Aye, me too. I'm about a 10th of the way there. At this rate, I might have one by 2008. Just in time, I'm sure, for a better, even more expensive model to come out. *sigh*

I sorta tried that - tried to cancel one that shipped and then the other one...neither UPS nor FedEx asked for sigs, just drop and run, so no 'second' chance to cancel either one.

I ended up trading one for a 20D and cash and selling my backup 300D.

So go for it! It'll make your life interesting! ;)

battery grip? Just put a sandbag on your current camera and you can pretend! The 30D can shoot 1200-1400 shots on one charge of one batt - so the only benefit of a grip is the second shutter button. That's why god gave you wrists man!

Nope...my 30D shipped the next day, the SOBs. I tried to stop it about an hour after i ordered it...took 3 hours to get Dell to recognize there was an order (their computer system is slow) and then 5 days of 'attitude' on their part to attempt to get a RMA without a restock fee. I ended up selling it off instead of returning it. I have done biz with dell once now, and that's enough for this lifetime.

Oh yeah, they charged me sales tax too. The only on-line vendor to ever do so.

I want the Battery Grip mostly to look more "Pro" for getting into wedding photography, which is one of my current goals right now. (I plan on keeping the 300D as back-up and after one or two weddings, popping for another 30D, 'cause my wife wouldn't be happy if I bought two before any weddings.)

Update - UPS, for the first time I can remember, actually tried to deliver during the DAY, the silly people! Usually they hit me after 5 pm. But today?? No. And the package requires signature, in person. Can't sign the sticky and leave it on the door.

So I called the nice electronic lady and she let me choose "pick up" as an option, then told me someone from UPS would call within the hour. They did. I can go pick up between 8 pm and 9 pm. Waaah!! I want it NOW!!! But I can wait another two hours, I guess. I'll just be out of daylight by then.
