If the votes go for the highest average among commenters, I would win 2nd place along with Dr. Achoo. :-) Do I get a ribbon?? LOL! I got 8.571 avg among commenters, and it's the tie among with DrAchoo's winning entry.

I'm actually surprised at my score, I thought it would be below average, especially when people were saying how sick they were about seeing flowers. I did well, in my eyes.

The only small problem I have is many people gave me a score of 6 or below, and I want to know WHY! It's the only way I can really tell how to improve my score, my shot, my way of shooting. In my very first challenge I submitted a photo of a collection of cat whiskers (My Favorite Things). And that sucked....totally. I give myself a 2 for that. I do not have a DSLR, and I am not really good at deciding how to adjust lighting, levels, contrast in PS. That's where YOU come in...

For this challenge, I took the photograph of my flower the day it bloomed. It was a special day because I've been waiting for 3 weeks for the flower to bloom. I've tried taken various other bokeh photographs, but this stood out. I should have done more research on what exactly a Bokeh photo is. My photo obviously does not have the "rings of light", but "loosely defined", it fits.

I don't usually hang out in the forums and such, but I'm starting to. Basically, all I want to know why I have such a high score in commenters, but still get a bunch of 5s and 6s with no comments.
I'm sure it's like that for many of you...

LMK if it doesn't belong here.

Thank you - DJ

To me this does not meet the challenge. It is a close up with a shallow DOF and not really Bokeh. Also I think that it is overexposed and needs a lot more detail n the centre.
Hope this helps.

Thank you! that's exactly what I need!! :-) I didn't research on Bokeh photos, hence got a bit confused just like "everyone else".
I doubt that I can take a "perfect" bokeh picture with my fancy smancy camera anyways. I couldn't even enter in the 30 secs challenge.

I agree that it's spuriously bokeh, but I love the feeling of the image, developed by the slight overexposure and softer focus, so I think it is quite successful in terms of being a lovely shot.

I was not sure what Bokeh was,so i did a google search, read a bit and then went out and tried as many things as I could.
I started out with and still use a Canon A70 which is 3.1mp but has plenty of manual controls including macro. It looks similar to yours so maybe you have more thsan you realize.Maybe you need to experiment more on the other side of the dial from auto.
All of the best.
