i wanna use a tripod with a long lens that doesnt have a colar .. i wanna fix the tripod to the lense rather than the camera because the lense is long and heavy and disturbs the balance and becomes unstable and vibrates alot....

Bogen actually makes an universal lens support the 3420.

Really Right Stuff and Kirk have made lens collars for specific lenses that have lacked a collar such as the 1st & 2nd versions of the Nikkor AF80-200 f2.8.
