I'm trying to write a document in Portuguese in Word, and Word is supposed to automatically detect the change of languages, but it doesn't seem to be doing it. I have a new computer, Word '03, etc, so everything is brand new. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?
Thanks |

I would go to Tools - set language and manually change it. Then just change it back when you are done. Why waste time trying to get it to detect when you could just simply fix it? |

You could try and manually change the languages. Not sure exactly how to go about doing that, but with a few minutes in the help section I'm sure it could be resolved.
Edit: Too slow...

I try that, and then when I go to do spell check, this message comes up... "Cannot find proofing tools for Portuguese (Brazil). If you have the proofing tools, try installing or re-installing them. |

it may be that you did an "express" install of Office which doesn't install all features to save space. Perhaps trying to do a full install or looking on some setup menu may help with that.

You can use the language bar to quikly switch between languages and keyboard layout. You can define your shortcuts for switching between language >Settings >Key Settings Tab in the language bar. |

Put the Office CD in and once it detects your current setup, you can go to Custom Installation, and find language tools in the Word section. Select and install whatever you want.
