I hereby declare a second Denver GTG. There were a whole bunch of folks who couldn't make it to Mt. Evans, so I decided we needed something more in town and less exhaustingly early.

The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is taking place on July 29 & 30, and I'm going to be there anyway since I'm rowing for Imua-Polynesia. I was there last year and it was a blast, lots and lots of photo opportunities with the boats, the parade, the Tibetan monks, and whatnot. Festival info is here.

The sad part is that because I'm in the races, I probably won't be able to spend quality time with the group, but I definitely think everyone local should meet up and take advantage of the atmosphere (and stop by my team's tent to say hello, and catch me on the lake via telephoto, of course).

Whaddya say? :D

Some pics from DBF '05. Not the greatest quality, but should give a general idea of how much variety there is to shoot.

I'm pretty sure that I'm in town. WHile shooting festivals usually aren't my thing, the colors and other items are very interesting, so put me down as a maybe. I'll let you know as time gets closer if I'll be there or not.

Hehe.

I'm still not sure if I'm in or not, too much stuff going on that just won't solidify.

Any ideas of if we'll have a meeting spot, or time?

Okay - is anyone actually interested in doing this?

If so, I recommend meeting at Invesco and taking the free shuttle over to the park. Other good places to meet up would be the northwest corner of the park (near the food court) or the north end of the stage.

Saturday noon: the parade and eye-dotting ceremony are good photo opps. My team, Imua-Polynesia will undoubtedly get a fair bit of media attention since we'll have hula dancers and we're a serious contender for the championship.

The actual races run all day Sunday.

I'm told that the Polynesian campsite will be at the northeasterly end of the team village, but I'm not sure on that. I do know for certain that we'll be the ones with the "camel" colored t-shirts.

I'm ressurrecting this, even though I'm too tied up this coming weekend to go, and not in the fun way. If I'm there at all it'll be Sunday, but I can't make any promises.

You all let me know if you're going on Sunday so that I can keep an eye out for you.
