I am preparing to buy a Canon 350d.
I am going to add these two lenses:
Tamron SP AF 17-50/2.8 LD Macro
Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO DG MACRO
Here is what I would like to know:
Will these lenses (designed for digital cameras) also work on my wife's 35mm non digital Rebel? |

I'm not sure about those but I know the canon ef-s ones won't. I would expect to have some vingeting(sp?) with lenses designed for digital on a film camera if it works at all

The Tamron 17-50 will not work on a Film 35mm read this note It specifically says will not work on 35mm cameras. Another note for what its worth. I bought one last week. And am currently sending it back to B&H my copy seems rather soft and also seems to backfocus. Rather then take a chance on getting another bad one, or maybe thats just the way it is. I have ordered the 28-75 Tamron thats highly thought of on this site to replace it. And added a Kenko 25mm extension tube for the same price as the 17-50.

| I believe there are both the Di and DiII lenses by tamron, and the DiII series is designed for a cropped sensor, the Di series will cover full frame but may have bad edges depending on which lens it is. |

Thank you all for the information. I appreciate it.
And Matto, I might swith the Tamrons as well - I could use the $100 price difference elsewhere. |

| actually the problem is more significant than vinyetting on most of the ef-s and similar lens the lense actually sits deeper in the body and close to the sensor. it physically will not fit cause of that fact. Hope that helps but check on other brands I only know this to be true on Canon EF-s lens good luck |
