My birthday is coming up July 1st, and I'm looking into some camera's to suggest to my Grandmother who is planning to buy one for me.
I was wondering, what is the difference between a Canon Powershot SD500 and the Canon Powershot SD550??
I can't seem to find one, and would hate to choose one, then realise the other had some amazing thing i was missing out on.
Or does anyone have any suggestions for nonDSLR digital cameras, under $400?

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20k, $299 from Amazon
I doubt you'd find it for under $400 at best buy or circuit city, certainly not a local camera shop.

Try going on Cannons web site and forums. When I was looking to buy that's where i looked the most. I would've gotten a cannon but my mother-in-law suprised me for my birthday!

The Canon PowerShot SD550 ($500) is an update to the popular SD500, which was released just seven months ago (click here to read our review). There's one big change on the SD550 when compared to its predecessor, plus a few smaller ones as well. Here's what's new on the SD550:
Larger LCD display (2.5" versus 2.0")
Lower battery life (150 versus 160 shots per charge)
Body color is "champagne" instead of silver
Minor changes to controls on back of camera
New 3 x 3 grid overlay on LCD for photo composition
Fancy new tricks in playback mode |

i went ahead and went with the powershot DS500, i think it will be the best camera for me of my options.
