Which did you choose?
I was a bit superstitious about superstitions and urban legends. I had 5 different things I wanted to do for it but I think only one would be known worldwide. The problem was that I feel that same one will be duplicated. I didn't bother taking the chance.
Glass seemed to boring to me. I really didn't want to do glass but then my creative light bulb came on when I started thinking of things I had around the house made of glass. Once I came up with that it was just a matter of getting the right shot. I hope I have. So glass, here I come!
Which exclusive did you choose and why, without revealing your shot of course? |

No shot for either yet but I'm leaning towards Superstitions and Urban Legends. I have a strong idea but finding the time to shoot it is something else.
Glass to me seems like a definite challenge and I have a shot planned for that. It's been dubbed the "anti-rikki" challenge which I really find funny and humbling. If taken correctly, an image in this challenge will by far out do superstitions IMHO.
We'll see what the week brings.

Superstitions.
I have a fantastic idea, tomorrow I'm gonna execute it. It's gonna be a hard one, though, with a couple of pitfalls, but I'm well prepared and I've got a lovely hubby who's going to help me out with some things. If this is gonna work out the way I have it in my head, I think it might be a ribbon... ;-)
The only problem is the title. I can't think of one that's gonna make the superstition clear. But, I will figure that one out also :)

I was singing along really loud and really false in my car with Europe's "Superstitious".
Keep on walkin' that road and I'll follow
Keep on callin' my name I'll be there
And if a mirror should break it's easy to take
Cause deep down I know that you care
I´m not superstitious
I´m not superstitious, I have no doubt
That there´s a reason, how things turn out
While things are changin´ from day to day
I´ll keep this feelin´ with me all the way
So, no superstions for me. I'll take the glass route. Must remember to have a chat with my neighbour about this tomorrow.

I had a few ideas and went out and took loads of photos and got one fluke result that I've entered and it's really really good but no one will understand and I expect to slightly lower my average score of 4.8 or something.
But what can you do. You post your best shot, not the one you think will get the best marks, right?
Edited to answer the question: glass.

Glass but I am still not 100% pleased with the shot I entered.

I took a bunch of shots for my idea. Then I took more. Then I processed and processed till it was over processed. lol. Then I decided on a different angle and did more. Now I am undecided between two but I finally decided and that is IT! I'VE HAD IT! lol (boring story or WHAT?) |

Superstitions will be hard. If you shoot something that people don't recognize or have never heard before, your score will probably suffer for it |

I had two shots lined up here and here, to enter as urban legend with the title: Residual LSD in Spinal Fluid.
Obviously I've changed my mind. Good thing, huh? |

I didn't get it. lol. So I guess it is a good thing. Should I show mine? Not sure we should before challenge so I will wait and put the two I did in my "woulda/coulda/shoulda" portfolio folder after challenge. :)

I went with superstitions. I don't know if this one is widely known. I googled "superstitions" and read a few and got an idea. Hopefully, people will not vote down things they may not have heard of. here is such a cultural bent to this one.
Keep an open mind everryone, just like you hope people do on your entries. ;-)
Instead of trying to find a reason to vote something down, we should evaluate the photo and give people the benefit of the doubt. Probably won't happen though. |

Since I am in glass, I will be voting on Superstitions. I don't vote on the challenges I am in but I can say that we also have to consider other countries to. They may have superstitions we don't know of here in the states. So I will be taking all entries into consideration. If I have never heard of it I will look it up. I am just afraid that some of the titles are going to be LONG and boring for people to get there point across. I know I struggled with all the choices I had to. I think we all need to take the entries into full consideration photographically and for theme, whether we have heard of the superstitions or not. There are so many out there. |

Yeah that would be tough. As it were mentioned specifically in the challenge description, we should create entries that would be able to be understood by the rest of the world ;) |

I think people can understand the entry even if they hadn't heard of the superstition.
Giving my fellow DPCers the benefit of the doubt, I don't think anyone will vote down a submission just because they hadn't heard of the superstition or urban legend. There have been a lot of postings about voting tendancies and such. A DNMC would have to be very obvious for me to vote it down.
If you haven't heard of the superstition or urban legend, google it.
Let's have some fun with this. I'm looking forward to hearing about urban legends from people around the world. |

I'm in neither. Nor Motion Blur. I won't have anything to look at for at least a week! Argh!!
I do have one potential glass shot, but it's bad. Very bad. Technically sucks, too. I may have to enter it anyway. It'll be a nice change for the voters from all those really pretty, nice, technically awesome shots....

Yes I agree. Let's have fun with this one ;) For one to google it, it needs to be in the title itself ;)
Good luck. As for me, I don't have the slightest idea what to shoot. My glass one is ok but not a "wow" image. Might have to rethink my strategy here ;) |

I have my superstition/urban legend entry in.
There were lots of possibilities. We'll see if my idea plays well with the crowd.
I also entered Motion Blur. Man there is a serious discussion going on over in that forum. |

as soon as I saw the urban legend challenge I had this great idea. I thought about it for 4 days or so and knew that it was it my best idea ever. as I set up the shot i started to get excited as I was about to shoot my first 7+ shot. I knew it was going to cause me some pain to do it but it was worth it. turns out it hurt more than i thought so i changed things abit and shot away. well my 7+ image turned out to be a 4.x at best so I turned to glass. I am not to excited about ti but it should be better than my average:( |

What about the superstition of 7 years bad luck for breaking a mirror (which is glass)? I probably won't enter, but this might give someone an idea or two.
By the way...anyone care to give me some comments, etc..on new photos added to my site? Taken with Sony DSC F707. The "wildlife" folder is from today at the Dallas Zoo.
