Is it just me, or has the DPC image server been on the blink in the last day or two - including today?

Router problems.

Working fine for me.

Working fine for me too. :-/

OK, thought they had replaced that congested router ;-)

It's been a little slow (I was voting over lunch) but otherwise responsive. Some of the perceived slowness on my part might also be bandwidth issues on my end.

i have been having rather unexplained issues with thumbnails being displayed (its sporadic) and the pages themselves showing up.
06/20/2006 02:12:05 PM · #8
The thumbnails have either not been showing or only a few have shown up. Same for yesterday. No such issue early this morning EST. But issue is active now and since late morning.

Edit to add: that clicking on a thumbnail leads to no image loading. On links such as Draganize This.. in the forum, the thumbnails are showing up as DPC's number links - not images.

It's been very slow and spotty for me the last 18-24 hrs or so also. Frustrating.

Actually getting much worse this afternoon I have to say. Thanks for confirming that I am not seeing things as they really are not being seen..

I haven't been having any of these issues. DPC is still running decently quick and error-free on my work computer.

Thank goodness, because it's keeping me sane today...

Now it's spotty for me too. DAMN ROUTER!

And this morning, 8:45EST it is on the blink again (big time). Turn the fawcett up please lads. The electrons are far too slow. Images not loading again.

OK, kills this thread off. I have found the reason and it is at my end of the pipe.

06/23/2006 07:21:44 PM · #15
That's exactly what I was getting!

Amber, your other post got me to thinking. So... thanks. But still not really sure why. I have several machines and it is only one of them with the issue. They all have updated Norton AV on each so, really, they should be showing consistent results - but they are not. Can't quite figure this one out. The problem, image blocking, only started happening when I posted this thread. Never before. I am wondering if there is a worm issue or not. I guess DPC server scans uploaded image files for mal-ware.

I know, strange...Norton has been running fine for ages, then suddenly we both get the same problem at the same time???
06/23/2006 07:40:22 PM · #18
If either of you are running Norton's ad blocker you need to set it to allow images from dpchallenge.com. Their software will interpret some images, especially 120x90 thumbnails, as ads.

But why now? And why does it does it say it's detected a worm?
06/23/2006 08:44:38 PM · #20
Terry - Thanks but, no not running the ad blocker and neither is Amber (I think).

It could be a bad signature. Can you give me an example of a specific image where you get this alert?

It happened as soon as I opened the DPC front page, not with a specific image.

Actually, I just uploaded an image - went to look at in the browse recently uploaded images and the worm notice came up again and the image box just has the x in it!
