I didn't know they had a black one either. All my lightstands are black and i keep tripping over the legs - they are about to be painted dayglow orange or at least white. I dont' want to be tripping over my tripod, so i suppose silver is better!

This link doesn't work, but after fiddling with it a little I found the tripod. The problem is that I don't see how to get it for "$40 and shipping." The price shown is $199.00.
Where do you find it for $40.00? |

I won mine on ebay. amvona also puts their new stuff up for auction that's how I got mine. I won it for $35.00 + shipping which was $30.00 so it was $65.00 all together.
Look on ebay I am sure you will find it.

It seems that the biggest difference between these two tripods is that yours has an offset ballhead.
What are the pros/cons with this configuration? |

not really sure about the pros/cons I have never used the two tripods with those heads above. Mine is pretty simple to use I have two or three levels built into the tripod so I really easy to level and I have no problems with it so far. After a day of carrying it does become a bit heavy.

This isn't really about the tripod .. and I've never dealt with them.. but you might want to reconsider getting it from amvona ..

I read all the things people said and I figured it this way when I ordered.
I get it when I get it. I won't bug them cuz it might make things take longer and I am not paying for priority shipping.
2 weeks later I was using my new tripod.

I wouldn't consider 2 ratings over the last 3 months that impressive. I think the three people here that have bought from them would at least score them 9's, so that balances it, dontcha think??

| Everything I have seen so far indicates that it would be a value. I would spend $30 at wal-mart and get a piece of junk that would shake like Michael Jackson was holding it over a balcony. The ebay special is worth the risk I am taking. |

Ebay is always a bit safer IMO - they have a vested interest in keeping their feeback positive. 99.8% positive with 39,412 feedback and 5+ years on ebay.
I've bought a couple of things from them and they are better than Amazon has been lately. I am still waiting for them to ship a book from 3 weeks ago that they said, and say, they have in stock. the shipped other things on that order and one thing since then. I am not real happy with Amazon this week.
