I'm guessing no since no one has asked for it to be added to the equipment list. I've been reading the reviews in the dpreview forums but was hoping maybe someone here had some experience with it.

A quick look at the specs on DPreview makes it appears the camera isn't that impressive - easily drowned by all the other choices and offerings in the ultra-compact digicam category. Also, except for the 256MB built-in memory, nothing else about it draws any attention, IMHO. Are you looking for an ultra-compact?

I am looking for an ultra-compact, yes. I really want to like the R4, most especially because of the impressive zoom. It doesn't have manual controls but I'm still undecided about whether or not I really need those. Unfortunately, the R4 seems to frequently suffer some bad banding issues and living in a country with no service centers and only one apparent (online) dealer makes me nervous. I suppose it's time to focus on the other models I've been looking at. I was just hoping. :)

If you were referring to an ultra-compact with super telephoto capability - the Lumix DMC-TZ1 may be something you want to look at. Doesn't have much manual controls, but for something you can fit into your pocket, this little guy covers 35mm to 350mm, with IS!
