Trying to get a decent understanding of my flash but the manuals really aren't helping. Does anyone recommend a book or tutorial on getting the most out of a shoe mount flash?
Cheers - Phil

You can't do that in public... :-P Sorry, no recomendations, I haven't read anything on flash in a LONG time, so I'm sure anything I've read is no longer in print.

On-camera Flash
I often give out this link as a good resource on flash photography. There's a whole section on Nikon flashes but it does talk generally too. |

Studio, on camera or hot shoe flash?
if it's the built into the camera kind, not much is out there.
If the hot shoe kind, some stuff is out there.

and this is kind of coolpix oriented but has some good stuff -
